How long were they banned and when did you were allowed to use them again?

Sypes? Is that were they make small cuts into the threads?

Ever use chains? PIA to put on and you don't want to use them long if you no longer don't need them. But when you need them, they really work great. ;)

They were illegal for ever! Like since the 60's or 70's, they would fly out & cause problems.
They just reinstated them maybe about 5 years now?
They build them rite into the tires now, they're not self installed like the old days.
A lot of people use them now, you can hear them, if a car/ light truck has them on.
It's like finger nails on the chalk board to me :(

Sypes are little cuts, because the rubber is so soft they open with the weight of the vehicle & create a little suction cup :) It Works on ice the best! :)

Chains, only on the Big truck, I have a set for all eight drive wheels, there a PIA but you need them some times. If it is a hilly & icy terrain & you don't use them, it's a suicide mission :(

Here in NY studs have always been legal, as far as I know. You could only run them in the winter, had to be taken off by April 15th (I think that was/is the date). Studs really aren't needed here like they use to be, the winters have changed. We use to get a lot more snow and it once the first snow fall came it never got above freezing until spring, now we get a lot less snow and we have so many days above freezing that it doesn't pile up like it use to. And snow tires have gotten a lot better, now you have tires made for snow, tires made for ice and tires made for ice and snow.

I had a few VW Rabbits, with four studded snow tires those little cars would do really, really well in snow, many times I was surprised how easy it was to drive through really deep snow and on some pretty slippery roads. But just like 4WD trucks, if you weren't careful you could get in trouble, over confidence, then suddenly having to make a quick stop or harsh maneuver.

Just came inside, got my driveway cleared out, once I get another mug of coffee in me and warmed up I'll go next door and clean out my daughters two driveways, it's starting to melt a little already, welcome to NY... :(

4 inches of heavy wet snow fell overnight. My lazy a55 neighbor had raked up her fallen leaves a week ago and left it in a 6 foot long pile up against the curb. If the plows were operating it would all be pushed in my direction .
My other neighbor pulled out his snowblower, so I figured I'd use mine also. Being the good neighbor, I did the 'bad' neighbors portion of the sidewalk, 4 feet down her driveway and all along the curb till my property again. Was I ever surprised to see all those wet leaves back on her property

Yeah I agree, either I'm behind or it's early this year, sure seems early. We have guys coming to replace a few windows in the next week or two, not sure the silicone caulk will take in this weather?

I think that less than fifty degrees it won't cure and hold. BUT, I have been known to be wrong.

I don't know how many were eying the Railbox, but never pulled the trigger since they cost like 300 bucks plus like me. Well eciggity are clearing them out for $84.60 (TENOFF coupon + free shipping). They use a small screen DNA40 btw.

I assume DNA75 dual battery mods use a different charging board than the built in one?
No, I don't think so. The dual battery mods only put the 2 batteries in parallel. And the DNA75 sees it as a larger capacity battery, which electronically it really is.

There has to be something between the two batteries, a Diode or PTC maybe? I thought that you shouldn't charge batteries in parallel as there is no way to tell what each cell is doing like with a balanced charger for series.

No charging in parallel is no different than charging 1 cell. No need for balancing since each cell stays exactly at the same voltage as the other. The only bad thing is if you place one cell correctly and the other one you reverse it. Now you have cells in series and in a dead short mode and that would be very bad. One could put in electronics to stop such a mistake. But honestly I don't know any mods which ever bothered.

Thanks, something to consider with a board I have here.

I've seen the one battery reversed by accident with a Cherry Bomber mod once, it wasn't pretty.

1/4 inch sheet metal screws in shoes and in tires are like glue on ice. Way back in the day (a friend of mine's dad raced when he was young) the motorcycle racers that raced on ice used them. They went so far as to grind 1/2 of the hex heads off. The ones on the side turned so they gripped best in turns and the ones in the middle for straightaways. Nowadays looks like they have commercially available ice tires.
