I was going to order a couple of Silo 950's from Protovapor but they sold out. I went to Modcrate and they were out too but I noticed some blem Silos in the "you might also like" items at the bottom of the page. They need the button cutouts filed. For $28, it's worth trying out. I ordered 3 (red, blue, blk).

I would go for it if it wasnt for their self tapping board mount screws. I couldnt live with self-taping, and would have to tap the holes. Unfortunately, I have a nasty habit of breaking those tiny taps.

I have broke a couple in them and compounded it by drilling with FT 1.2 mm drill bits after repairing them and the holes are too big for the tap to grip so it just removes the first few mm of metal. Got there in the end, but not selling that box as view it as a second, even though it is working well now.

Some of my personal observations from my wrench twisting days. They make a tapping/cutting oil for aluminum but you can also use wax, you do not want to use regular tapping oil, it will cause more problems then going with no lube. Walmart and Dollar stores sell cheap tea candles in the little foil cups, I found some of those are a very soft wax that you can press a thumb into and those work best, for me.... I also found with small taps, make no more then a turn and a half, back out, blow chips out of the hole and off the tap, rub wax on the tap again and repeat until you get the depth you need. Slow, easy, keep the chips clear and keeping the tap lubed has better chance of success, but every now and then it happens, SNAP..... :( Oh yeah, old, worn & dull taps are temping to use but your better off throwing them away and getting a new one before Ole Mr. Murphy comes calling, again....

I was sceptical about the self tapping screws also :( But they worked better than I thought they would :)
I even had to remove one board and reinstall another, screws held up so far :)
Just wondering if the 510 threading is for the Evolv 510 or theirs ?
I got 2 raw aluminum one's on sale for 39.99 $ Threaded for the Evolv 510 :)
BTW with mine the buttons needed no moding at all, The board fitment was perfect :)

I used paraffin, but it was the hole being the wrong size from not very sharp/balanced dirll bits that caused the most problems. I do gratefully take your and @jonniemac 's tips on board and you have both help me a lot, am starting a new chapter soon to see how much scrap metal I can produce win my new drill press.

Yes paraffin, that's what I use and what I should have called it, it's not really wax. Those tea cup candles, I don't know if you could even call that stuff paraffin, it's so soft and melts with hand heat, almost oily but it works good. BTW, you'd be better off taking jonniemac's tips LoL. I'm glad I can help, but my tips are just things I learned along the way that worked for me. Sometimes I almost hesitate to post tip because I'm not pro and wouldn't want to steer someone wrong. If I do I'd hope someone would pipe in and say so, my feelings would not be hurt and I'd learn the correct way too! :)

Everyone in the states got their flags out for the weekend? Have a safe and fun weekend gang!

Well SQuape X Surprisingly nice little vape :) I built a single Ti coil 2mm between the posts, after all it's a single 18650 mod & dual coils will make the battery life non igsistent. In my grand plan for the 75 watt chip I wanted a single coil atty for it :) It is a clone! but the build quality is stelar :)
I did how ever get the 31$ one not the 22$ one. Time will tell if the coating fails & ohms start jumping all over the place. Right off the hop it's performing excellent :)
Glad to hear that. I ordered one from focal, I think it was $28? It shipped a week ago or so... No tracking inside the usa yet.

Well, guess my mojo is off today. Was just replacing the DNA200 that gave up the ghost the other day. I crammed too hard trying to get an EC2 in there and lifted a trace off the board. Should have removed the plastic from the bottom of the JST first like I did last time, it gave me more room.

Walking away from it for today!

So just a quick question. I have no knowledge of the DNA75. I'm going to assume they are the same as a dna200 but lacking the additional 125w of power output and only requires a single cell (1S) power source.

The TC works the same? Escribe works the same? Setup is relatively the same?

I'm considering getting one for my Mrs. She's been using my dna200 in a 3d printed box designed by cotay, a gorgeous c frame with 1400mah 3s lipo, it's big for her but lightweight. I'm wondering if a DNA75 (premade from ecig) using a single battery would be lighter? Or at least comparable weight with a smaller size for her hands.

Any advice? Keep her on this dna200 or make the move to the DNA75?

To be clear, she likes the 3d printed mod because of weight, size is a little big...especially since she tosses in it her purse. Battery life is easily a day sometimes 2, but she is not the most reliable at charging before bed. That's why a. Easily replaceable battery seems appealing to me (for her) and I'm hoping the overall foot print would be smaller and easier for her to hold.

Rant about wattage, unless your building coil porn (fused claptons, aliens, sienfelds, buble', feather splits or whatever else they call the darn things) in a dripper for blowing clouds, we as tank people can't see a need for even the full 75w.

I'm trying to get her into TC, and she's still a dual user (smokes too) but when she tries she absolutely smokes less and Vapes more. So I'm not giving up hope yet. Just gently nudging her along the way ;)

Opinions?

Sitting down, facing forward.
I'm no expert with eScribe or the DNA200/DNA75, but here's my take on the DNA75.

I've got one running in an ERM enclosure from Proto. Nice, small and pretty light weight. I'm using a single LG HD2, 2000mah, battery and I use about two and a half batteries to empty an Aromamizer running at 40 watts and 480F to put battery life in perspective. I know Mike built a "weekender" using an ERM+ case and five 1S LiPO packs. I haven't used the charger on the DNA75, yet, but it is supposed to be a 1 amp charger.

There re differences with eScribe between the 75 and 200. It appears to me, that the 75 is more simplified(?) and has some different and/or missing features. None of that has interfered with my setups, but I'm fairly straightforward with vaping and their setups.

Overall, I am quite satisfied with the 75 and the only real complaint I have is the lack of commercially available battery sleds that are up to the task of supplying good contacts and wiring. They all seem to be built for a load of about an amp.
