not mad at you, willy

especially, since i can tell you are treating your guns with respect. but i would bet my last penny that is not how the majority of guns are handled

but no silly remarks please as to banning cars or such!

and yes, beatings can be fatal but in reality most of them are not or am i mistaken there?
I think it's a culture thing, how you view guns, I grew up around them in rural NY, not in the city. I hunted, fished and trapped before I was sixteen. I use to shoot rifle and pistol matches, I became an certified firearms instructor and taught safety classes. I carry a concealed handgun everywhere I go, so long as it's legal.
Last weekend, the day before the shooting I left my gun home as I went to a school to watch my grand daughter's dance recital. In NY you can't have a gun anywhere on the grounds or with 500 feet of school property so I couldn't even lock it in the car. Me, thinking about things different then most, I sat in that auditorium thinking how I and everyone there would be completely defenseless if some nut came in with a gun like in the movie theater shooting. I felt uncomfortable, watched people as they moved around and viewed the path to every exit. Then the very next day I see that shooting on the news, ironic.
Your right, most beatings don't end in death but with most beatings killing isn't intended. If they wanted to kill the person, they already have them beaten so..... Evil people will commit evil regardless of laws. And background checks, if they want a gun they will get them, if they can't pass a background test they will get someone who will
buy the gun for them. That happen here in NY about two years ago, and the person that bought him the guns knew he wasn't right in the head and violent. It's hard to stop evil and stupid people. You can't rely on 911, they seldom get there in time. It's up to each one of us to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
I think we can agree to disagree and stay friends!
