Anyone do any metal detecting? I bought my first detector and a real cheap pin pointer last summer, first day out I discovered a
good pinpointer is a must, otherwise your going to be spending a lot of time digging bigger and bigger holes trying to find the object in the ground. I shelved detecting but I want to get back into it this summer, been looking at pinpointers and I'm leaning toward this one, wonder if it's as good as they say or if there is a better choice? One thing I like about it is this one has a proximity feature, the beep and vibration increases as you get closer to the object making it easy to truly pinpoint in the dug hole. The cheap one I had and most others will beep at one rate no matter where you stick it in the hole so you didn't know if it is to the right, left or deeper.

The deed for my one acre property dates back to the 1800's, the house was built by the first banker in this village, then it was a farm, my garage/shop is actually a small two story barn with hewed and sculpted beams from the chew marks left by the horses and cows. The fellow I bought the property from had the farm and a meat cutting business here, there is walk in cooler in my basement. After he retired in the 60's he broke it up and sold the outer lots leaving the one acre, house and barn that I now own. On the back side of the property where it is wooded there is the original horse wagon trail that lead into town. I've been here for 30 years and have always wanted to detect the property and trail, I'm sure there some neat treasures waiting to be found, maybe that banker had coin stashes from money not on the books!
