I view my coffee as a semi-religious experience but Mike seems to be a true acolyte.

Kingorchid won't ship to NJ and he's in NJ! Bummer. I did find some tungsten from other vendors but they're in China. That makes me worry about quality. To bad Temco doesn't carry it.
Yeah, I noticed that about Kingorchid. I wonder if it has to do with State Sales tax or something. Seems odd though.

I will say that I am still liking it. I always have a "break in" period with rayon wicks, the rayon seems to impart a flavor for a half tank or so. As this build broke in, I was liking it more and more.

I wonder if you can get away with contact coils with this stuff. I plan to try.

Given that most of the tungsten wire available seems to be in really small gauges that could be an option assuming you have the time, patience and skill (NOT me).
Actually, there are already a wide variety of "interesting" premade tungsten heating coils on the market.

Sitting down, facing forward.
The trik is to find one with the right gauge, right number of wraps and right diameter. Easier to wind one although a couple in that photo look about right. Wonder what the scale of the photo is.

Another alternative would be to use finer wire and twist enough strands to make a reasonable gauge finished wire.

Incidentally, I suspect the break-in period you're experiencing is from having a little too much rayon in the coils, Mike.
Yeah, I have a tendency to pack it in there since it shrinks. I am narrowing in on the right amount, but it seems like every wick is still a bit of a crap shoot.

It takes time and luck, but the end result is well worth the effort. My big problem is trimming the tails and getting that just right. The Aromamizer drives me nuts 'cause you can't drape the wick in the liquid channels since they're at the bottom of the deck and recessed below the coils.

12 wraps around a 3mm piece of ceramic, then pulsed the mod while I worked it with ceramic tweezers. Remove the ceramic rod and wick. Contact coils will work with this stuff, squeezing it with tweezers didnt short it out while pulsing, you would need to hot wrap it though. Threading the Rayon didnt phase the coil shape.

0.17 ohms, and hits as good, if not better, as a dual coil Mizer. Allowed me to lower the temp (as compared to yesterdays 0.11 ohm coil, same mod) and still get a good vape.

Not the prettiest coil, this stuff is hard to tame, but it vapes really well...

thinking...dangerous I know...but...
What about leaving a 'just fits in the chamber' ceramic wick and draping rayon over the ends ?

Like towels on a towel bar...

Might be a cool way to not have to re-wick through the coil...
Understand ?
