can you MacGyver a stand for a (spare) cellphone and use its camera+zoom instead? I've used my helping hands stand (the one that you recommended) to hold my iPhone above the deck - atty was on a vapenut stand - of the Nuppin since it's frikkin wee.
Clever, downright clever....

I have one of those magnifier lamps that clamps on the desk, I like it a lot. If you have A.C. Moore stores near you check there, Arts and Crafts Stores | A.C. Moore they often have them on sale. I see in this link they also have some smaller desktop models that look handy.

It gives me light where I need it and I can see small parts when I need to. When I made my helping hands the hands got in the way when soldering so I added a small magnifier lens to one of the hands, now I can easily see when I solder small area's.

The closest thing I had handy was a DNA 25

Dimensions are very damn close. Unless you had a design that was form fitting around the inductors, I think you would be fine. I did not caliper it, but to my naked eye the center-line of the up/down switches does look about 1/2mm higher.

Huh, your right, it does look like the up/down switches are slightly higher. I checked the specs for the 40 and 60 looking for the position of the switches, I looked at the measurements from the center of the fire switch to the bottom of the board, then the center of the up/down to the bottom of the board and by that it was a few thousandth's. I wonder if it's the angle of the pic with the 60 switches being taller? All in all, I don't think it's something I can't work with, using a 60 to replace a 40.

I also noted, the spec sheets shows the 60 board to be .020 thicker on each side, the taller fire switch and inductors on the 60 being the reasons, again, not enough to matter.

"I thought I was out and they pulled me back in." LoL, I thought my mod building was done for at least a few years, now I'm excited to build again and having fun doing all the planning and searching for parts. Guess I needed a fix, it's just the tinkerer in me. :)
