Hey Mike, have you seen this one?
This might just be the most expensive cup of coffee in the US
$600/lb coffee beans selling at $55/cup of coffee, and it looks like a six ounce cup to me.
YES, I have had that one actually, but aint no coffee on the planet worth $55 a cup!!!!!!!
The co-ops I
buy my beans from offer various Geishas from time to time. The last one I bought was a "Costa Rica La Candelilla Gesha “Palmilera” Micro Lot" which sold for $17 a pound, vs the normal $3-5 a pound for high quality regular green beans. Keep in mind that green coffee loses about a third of it weight when you roast it.
The last time I had the exact one mentioned in the article was back in 2015, and it sold for $12 a pound green, which would put it about $20 a pound out of the roaster, add typical retail markup and it would be about $40/lb. Me thinks somebody in that supply chain (probably the auction house) is selling "the sizzle
NOT the steak". Reminds me of my dealings with Chinese tea brokers. Though the rest of Klatch's prices seem fairly reasonable for high end Joe.
