I don't know, I worked in GM dealer's for years but then moved to working on foreign cars, VW's, Audi's, Porsche's, Honda's, Acura's, Nissan's and MB's. I'll be honest, that's the first I heard anyone speak of a difference, 3.8 and 3800, to me they are the same, I haven't seen any difference in performance but I left GM in the early 3.8 years. I've never had the reason to rebuild one either, we had one LeSabre that I took over from the wife as a hand me down and when I finally let it go it had 220k on the odometer. She was starting to burn a tad of oil and had a little lifter rattle but it still ran fine. The sub-frame started rotting and the rocker panels rust through. I really got my money's worth out of that one. I can tell you GM never solved the plastic upper intake manifold problem, every one I've owned I've had to replace them, on the one with 220K I had to replace that one twice. And the aftermarket manifolds last longer then the OEM's. It has to do with where they dumped the EGR (exhaust gas) back into the intake, poor (dumb) design they never changed and the heat warps the plastic over time.

I see they are selling the replacement batteries for the DX200. I remember when they sold tons of the DX200 for $50 as a complete kit, heck I bought 6 of them,,,, and they are all still running strong.
I forgot to mention, I looked at the DX battery's they still have for sale, although all they list are red, at $11 it's a good price. BUT.... That guy on ebay (zbbmods) who is selling off the stock he bought from Hana, he's now reduced the price on the lipo's to $6.95 plus $3.75 shipping AS 950mah 3s 11.1v LiPo Battery High Quality | eBay Guess he finally figured out selling the beta mod kits with the battery's at the same price wasn't going to help move the battery's. I asked him what brand these are, he told me he didn't know, they came from Hana and they were what Hana used, Hana claimed these tested better then most. I tested two of them out of the box and they did test a little better then the Fullymax 900's that came in the DX's I have. They may test even better after a few charge cycles? They are the identical size and rated 900mah as the Fullymax, I bought a bunch of the mod kits and spare battery's for the DX's I have. I can't say if they will last as long as the Fullymax, but for the price I went for it.
Also know, he doesn't combine shipping, but if you message him through ebay and ask him to help with the shipping cost, mention "maybe you can toss in a couple extra mod kits or battery's to help offset the shipping cost" he has done that with me twice and I know he threw some freebies in with at least one of Steamer's orders, but we bought have placed a few orders with him so that may have helped.

My main concern was trying to keep the fish tank alive. I dont have a generator anymore, starting to think about one of those natural gas ones.
Willie, I think I'll stick to a conventional generator. The frequency of the output is a problem for just too many things. It's fine for resistive loads, but any kind of inductive load would be a problem. I've though about using car batteries for the UPS, too. Problem there is the hydrogen generated by charging and getting rid of that safely. I'd have to remote the batteries, best outside, and that would involve some 6 or 4 gauge wiring which isn't much fun to fool with.

Agreed on the auto battery for a UPS, you wouldn't want the battery in certain parts of the house, like in a closet or under your desk. Trickle float charging isn't going to create enough gas to worry about in a shed (unless it's tiny) or in an unfinished basement. I plan on putting the battery and float charger in my basement and run maybe 13 feet of 10/2 wire (because I have plenty) through the floor to my office right above. Like I said, it's not for everyone and you'd have to be careful on your setup but it should give a long run time.

Sealed gel and AGM batteries don't produce any hydrogen. I'm not a fan of gel, but AGM batteries rock for this kind of application.
