I quit when Pdib, DJ, Turbocad, and others were censored and reprimanded for posting outside their vendor threads. Last straw was Pdib for posting battery safety information which clearly had nothing to do with hocking his mods. I still have snapshots from Google cache of several such incidents that I forwarded at that time to the big cheese hoping for resolution.

Edit / add

In fact I was mulling over becoming a vendor at that time and decided it just wasn't worth it to be possibly censored or banned posting outside a vendor thread.

I wish there was a 'wow' emoji for that.
I saw that in a reply aimed at me that crossed the political line. I didn't see anything wrong with the censored post, but I must be too old or dense as I wasn't "triggered". But who knows if the offending post was reported or just removed based on the past. I know that's why I stopped hanging here. I only came back cuz I'm a bit fed up elsewhere.

Yeah, a lot of great knowledge was lost during the "Modder Purging" era. It truly is a shame that things got so rigid.

Alas, the "art" of Modding is fading fast anyway. Not only has a lot of the innovative knowledge (think Mamu and the others mentioned above) moved elsewhere and for the most part gotten out of modding, but the mass market has hit the point on the bell curve that "decent" mods are now a mass commodity, and no longer just a boutique market. Modding is/was a "craft", and in its day it was the only way to get decent gear.

It will come back though, if and when the FDA limits the market to Pod Mods.

Yeah, the pop ups are annoying even if they can be closed. Why there isn't a selection to disable them after you've read them, once, is beyond me. This place is becoming more and more millennial as time goes by. Not being one, by a large stretch, makes it annoying as all get out. This isn't a "free" news or video site, I'm a supporting member as well.

Hey Willie, we have Comtrash, digital, cable. The boxes all have an analog, 75 ohm, output. I use that output to go to my "ancient" VCR, early version of a DVR (giving away how far out of millennial I am), and tap it to run the TV in the kitchen, which has a 75 ohm input, as well.

They told me these boxes use hdmi and are only for hd tv's, I need to go to one of the walk in service centers or flag down one of the service vans and see what the real skinny is. They could be blowing a lot of smoke too, but they say and told me twice on the phone after the 13th a cable plugged into a TV won't receive any channels, we'll see what happens on the 14th. Regardless, I'm peed at Spectrum now and even though we are keeping it to keep the wife happy, putting up an antenna and going streaming for MY use is my way of giving them the finger, even though they won't know or care if they did know. Hell, they wouldn't care if I dropped them, it will just give me some satisfaction.

Let's face it, we're talking to the wall. Sad but true. But don't let it get under your skin, life's too short. Besides, soon it will be nice out and we'll be spending more time in the real world, soaking in the sunshine, lovin life and not thinking bout this stuff. :)

Willie, just to make sure I explained it right...I'm using the 75 ohm tap on the cable box, it is digital coming to the box but the box is supplying an analog signal as well. There's still a LOT of 75 ohm only stuff out there and/or people that don't give a crap about HDMI inputs that they're still on the boxes I have.

As the little, old, grey haired, pince nez and shawl wearing, little old lady working for the government always says "We MUST have our rules". I do appreciate ECF as a vaping site which is why I support it, but sometimes I wonder what in the heck they are thinking.

If ever a post deserved #optimistic, it's this one! The FDA has no rule over China, they will keep pump out Cheap mods till we stop buying them.

The board was a lot more interesting, before the talent "exodus"
They ran off, or contained to their own threads all the good people!

I to let my support go, nothing Here worth paying for any more :(

I live in a small village, really small. All the official's and town workers are from a handful of families that have long roots here, they have their little circle. If you weren't born here your forever an outsider, I've been here 30 years and have seen how it works. The house I bought, belonged to one of those families and it erks some of them an outsider owns it. They tried to tell me what I could and couldn't do on my property right off the bat, I tried to be friendly but it got to the point I told them to stuff it, it's my place now and I'll do as I please, so long as I'm not breaking any laws or ordinances they need to mind their own business.

The town use to tap all the maple tress in the village and collect the sap, one day during my first spring here I came home and found buckets on all my maple trees, I took them down and stacked them next to the curb. You would have thought I murdered someone, the uproar from the village office was beyond ridiculous. I told them, if you had asked first I would have let you, but you don't come on my property and tap my tress including those in the back yard without first asking, in fact unless your coming for an official reason don't come back here again, that was the start of it. 30 years have passed, a lot more "outsiders" have moved in but the same families still run the town, but they are now outnumbered from "outsiders".

I get the finger from time to time as some drive by, get snubbed and they do petty things like swerve when plowing to push as much snow as they can in the driveway entrance's. The farm boys with their load exhaust rev their engines when they drive by, race like hell after dark and throw beer cans and bottles at my mail box.

I laugh at them, I don't have to do a thing and they hate me, they carry that hate and all I have to do is just live here. LoL, there goes one of the farm trucks now. I ignore them, I don't let it bother me, it's their problem, not mine. If they want to live carrying anger and hate that's a sad way to live but it's on them and not my problem. :)

Whew, long post to get to the point eh?

Maybe I'm missing what your trying to tell me with the 75 ohm, they say the signal (channels) that will come out of the cable after the 13th will be scrambled, (coded I guess?) and the boxes will be needed to decode the channels. Are you saying there is a way I'll still get channels directly off the cable without their descrambler boxes?

    ECF is growing and changing.
Oliver is continuing to bring new and exciting things to the members, he's been working hard towards that with the contests.
I know none of likes "change", we are all comfy in our routines. ( get off my grass ! )
Some of us are very settled in our vaping habits...but there are still so many that need the nudge to get off cigarettes.
I support ECF and with a crap ton of time volunteered because I believe in it. It's one of the very last places online that anyone can come to - from young to old, any walk of life and be comfortable. No foul language, no poor behavior...
I want to make sure that it stays for the future, I would like to see everyone not smoke cigarettes.
I use an ad blocker along with not getting all the ads being a Supporting Member, and don't begrudge the contests that pop up.

I don't know where I am going with this, I guess I let all the complaints get to my heart.
Maybe I should just give up.

Personally I (like many of you) are set for life with nic, and vape gear (or the means to make it). PG and VG will always be available and flavors are used in baking. (DIY was around before the vape specific flavors) Concerning however is the numerous new vapors that I see and strike up a conversation with that are totally dependant on vape shops. Most of them would go back to smoking if the vape shops evaporated, which isn't a stretch at all considering the number here today vs none here when I started. It isn't a hobby to them, just a less dangerous way and they have no interest in DIY or modding. When I started, you were as likely to see a vaper as to see a unicorn around here and now if a day goes by I don't see one it is unusual.

I think I can speak for everyone here classy, and your name fits you perfectly, you are classy, none of this is directed at you. Well at least that is my feelings. I appreciate you taking a lot of time daily to mod here, sure there were times and maybe more in the future I disagree with but it's nothing personal against you, your just following the rules and doing a hell of a job.

Be like me, let it roll off, don't let it bother you. During Dad's last months he tried to pass wisdom to me to help me along after he'd be gone, he knew how much I leaned on him for answers. One thing he told me that has stuck hard with me, "You can't control what other's think or do, you can only control yourself so just do what you know in your heart is right and don't let how others act bother you. You can't know why they do what they do, they may have problems in their life that makes them act in ways we don't understand, don't judge them to harshly or by one act and don't let them change you."

    "Get off my lawn"
LoL, I love that movie in so many ways, I watch it often and every time I cry. :)

BTW, that rifle he had was a WWII Garand, a have a couple of those so damn it, keep off my lawn!!

Classy, it's not the changes that bother me, at least not all that much, it's more of a change in target, for lack of a better word. I only hang out in a few threads here and they all involve "hard core" vaping techniques or specific niches so I may not be aware of the whole forum. Having stuff pop up just isn't "user friendly" to me is all I'm trying to get across.

Willie, on the back of my cable boxes there's a 75 ohm port. That port supplies an analog version of whatever the box is tuned to. It's not all channels at once, like cable used to be, just the channel the box is tuned to. Sort of a "slave" port I guess. It does limit you to whatever channel you're tuned to on the box, but does offer a way to get an analog signal to another device, typically on "channel 3", without adding another box. You just have to be satisfied with watching the same channel on both devices.
