As far as popping on a hot coil, that will never happen with me. I'm far to OCD to make that kind of mistake (or at least I want to think so).
No, I don't do this by mistake, I do it on purpose. Power mode only, doesn't care about hot or cold coils. Although I don't really like power mode only. As you get a different vape all of the time and have to fiddle with power a lot. But TC mode does care about coil temperature in respect to temperature calibration.
But I throw hot coils on any TC mod all of the time. It's not hard, I just readjust. From experience, I know if it is really hot, I need to adjust the temperature at least 200F lower. Then I just need a little vape and I instantly know if I am 50, 100, 150, or whatever too low and jump it up by what amount I believe it is. And I am almost never wrong. And if I guessed 20 to 30 too high. No harm done and no big deal. I'll just be better next time.
Of course I can now chain vape under TC and everything is fine. TC is keeping the temp right where I want it and all. But if I stop vaping and let it sit for minutes, 10s of minutes or whatever. And the TC mod now grabs that lower resistance. Still not a problem. Maybe I'll forget and start vaping and it will be way too cold. No big deal. I'll guess it is say 150F too cold. So I'll bump it up by 150F. Maybe it is on the money, or maybe it is 10 to 20 too low or too high. But it will be close and I'll tweak it right in.
