Ya know, I've never understood why room air conditioners still used the same old, tired, bulb thermostat system. It's too close to the evaporator coil, is effected by the coil and, worse yet, effected by the overall temperature of the machine. A simple RF or BlueTooth thermostat would work so much better. What makes it really frustrating is that they've added "programmable" remotes for functions but left the same old, crappy, POS, thermostat stuck on the unit.
Controllable from any PC on my network, from the web, from my phone, and via any of my Alexas via voice command.

They have them now that are connected to wifi, with an app you can access the AC unit from your phone from another room or while away from home, but yet they can't make a separate temp sensor...... Even if they put it in the remote that would be better but really I'd like to see one you can set where you want it.
My Zwave Trane Thermostats do offer "1" remote thermistor for outside temp. Lets the heatpump know if it should switch over to the hot water baseboard heaters.

This strikes me as totally backwards. Caffeine and nicotine are what keep me from going postal on the entire world. Just ask my wife! ;)
Well I have noticed for some people, caffeine makes them very edgy. Sometimes really bad. Others it seems to calm them down, especially if you are addicted. It usually raises most peoples blood pressure though.

Most people addicted to nicotine, it has a calming effect. Still like caffeine, usually increases blood pressure. I guess what is one man's poison is another man's medication. :D

Although that is very good it doesn't solve the problem with remote temp monitoring (a remote thermostat). I would want my main thermostat and remote thermostat to be wifi and have a programmable temp, delay and threshold (my chair is by a door). Doesn't seem too far fetched either with all the wifi appliances available today. There are wifi main and remote thermostats and wifi motorized register vents for hvac systems but none for window units that I'm aware of.

Sitting down, facing forward.
You guys are talking about a whole house system, not a window unit. It's really weird that there's no remote thermostat for them.

I guess I could kludge a remote control relay that would control overall power to the AC unit, but that would leave it running on whatever it's set to, high-medium-low, every time it comes on and not be able to use the "energy saver" features built into the AC unit. Frustrating.

Ahhh window units are local area network only....... Industry doesnt invest the development money in that segment.

If you could find one that uses a thermistor then you could hack it, but you would still be limited to one measurement spot.

Gee... I had window AC units decades ago and now I live with central air. One digital thermostat (which I hate digital thermostats) in the dinning room. Neither window or central have I ever thought about controlling it remotely. I just go to the thermostat and adjust it.
I dont think it is remote control at issue, but rather remote measurement. The temp at my office desk could be very different from the temp at the window.

My mom (RIP) had essential tremors. One sister of mine does too. Both had it really bad and got worse as they age. I had it a tiny bit, but it never got into the way for me. They had treatments and my mom even had deep brain stimulation surgery. Neither one was helped long term and only made things worse. So I won't go to the doctors about it. But mine lately was getting worse that some days I can't even solder or even build coils.

So I tried vitamins and minerals. No help. Diet, no help. Tried no alcohol for 3 months. No help. Well the last thing on my list was caffeine. And I thought please don't let it be that. Well 3 days without caffeine things greatly improved. Damn, not my coffee! Still hoping it wasn't coffee, I made a pot. And the tremors happened again for the next 3 days. Crap, must be the coffee. Does caffeine really last 3 days in your body?

Went to town to a tiny grocery store to pick up some stuff and thought why not try decaf? They didn't have much coffee selection and much less of decaf. Found some Best Choice Decaf Coffee. Well it is just an experiment right? Maybe it won't be so bad. Made a pot in the morning and it reminded me of those corner restaurant type of coffees. Not horrible, nor great like I am used to drinking, but just ok. That day no tremors. :)

Second morning (this morning) I had another pot. Now tremors are getting bad again. Crap! There is some caffeine in decaf I know, but this brand has still too much. :( I may have to give up coffee totally.

not sure where you reside, bill, but maybe luck hasn't left you altogether and you can buy that stuff that makes you mellow? excellent for suppressing tremors ;)
Oh I am sure that really works! Anything that makes you mellow does wonders for tremors. ;) Yeah living in Wisconsin, not such a great idea. :(

I lived in Hawaii in the mid 70's and I had a party at my house with friends. And one friend came running in all excited and ask me if I saw what was growing in my backyard? I said yes, it is a jungle with a few banana trees. He said no and dragged me out there and I knew what he was talking about. And I was used to looking close to the ground for it and I said what? There is nothing. He said: "Bill, look up!" Then I said OMG!
