@BillW50, if it had a DVD burner built in I'd be trying to get them to take back the one that I bought and get that one.
On another note, getting away from a dedicated video chip is something I'm interested in. BGA socket and heat make it it not if but when. So video on the cpu sounds good as long as the cpu is not BGA.
I figure Apple does theirs BGA, not sure, maybe they solder the pins to the board. Everything is soldered on I'm to understand.

So I had a choice, remove the single 8Gb memory chip and install two 4's and hope for dual channel support or just add 4 to make 12. I went with 12. In the process I noticed the BlueTooth module, the one it said it didn't have. Then there's the HDMI port, not HDMI but display port. Need HDMI cord with display port plug on one end, it's not like it's a lot smaller like a mini HDMI.
All and all I'm very pleased with it. Well maybe not all of it, read speed on HD is only 90 Mb, than can be fixed with an SSD.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Glad you like the laptop! The new drive for this one will be here today so I may get it installed this weekend. Every day this thing has been "repairing the drive" on boot up and I've kept my fingers crossed it doesn't totally crap out.

What kind of camera, dw? 10 or 15 FPS?

It's one of those 2 mp ones that I posted about before, Luxon branded but they didn't make it. Can do 30 fps but usually much slower.

You did already backup/clone the drive right? BestBuy has portable WD 4TB drives on sale for $79.99 if you need a spare backup drive.

It wouldn't happen to be a Seagate drive, would it?
In 35+ years I've never had a Seagate drive die on me (knock on wood), and only 1 WD. I was always a SCSI guy (even on my PC's) and we'd routinely swap out the drives as they ran hard 24x7. The best part, they were Seagate Barracuda's that ran at 10K rpm. Loved 'em in my home PC's.

We used 10K Seagate in the servers when I was in IT. I've used both Seagate and WD. They both seem to be pretty reliable. I don't know what this one is, but this craptop gets used fairly heavily for 18 hours a day, seven days a week, and it's easily five or six years old now. The SSD drives that have failed have all been Samsung EVO.

I did manage to get everything backed up off of this thing. I ran copies right after it got done "repairing the drive" and only had a few hiccups along the way of about 30GB of data.

I still am amazed that I have more memory in my desktop than we had in a five drive RAID5 array on a server when I started out in IT. Boggles the mind where things have gone.
