Nope, I worked it really hard and I have to max out the CPU for about 15 minutes and the double beeps came back. Temp only maxed out at 165°F. Far cry better than 200°F though. Drop the temps and beeping stops.

Wonder if the CPU needs a new dab of thermal grease? Or maybe the thermo temp sensor is going? My wife's laptop's needed to be taken apart and cleaned once in a while, never had a shutdown due to overheating but I've noticed the fan running like a plane spinning up for takeoff which told me they may be getting clogged up.

About every six months I take my desktop out to the shop and use the shop air to blow the dust bunnies out, it sets on the floor and sucks in the dust and cat hair. The CPU cooler always thanks me when I do :D those fins on the heat sink will be covered with a layer. The MB is a Gigabyte, they made a little software program that reads the CPU & board temps and controls the speeds of the fans, you can play with the settings to where you want them and set the temps to kick a warning if the temps get too high but I can tell when it needs a cleaning from the sounds of the fans. It's a surprisingly very sensitive, just opening a new page in the browser will cause the CPU fan to speed up for a couple seconds while the page loads then go back to almost silent.

I used Acronis True Image software to clone a new SSD drive for the wife's laptop with Win 10 last year, The Best Computer Backup Software - Acronis True Image 2019 A free limited version came with the PNY SSD I bought. Worked great once I figured out how to use it correctly, took me longer to figure out the instructions then it did to clone the drive and swap it out.

I got tired of waiting for my Ebay SSD , didn't even ship yet, it said up to 4 days after payment to ship. So I went to Best buy to get San Disk SSD that was on sale for $120. They didn't have it in stock like the web site said. They gave me a Samsung EVO 1 Tb for $120. It's up and running now. Before about 89 Mb linear read speed, now 489 - 500 Mb read speed.
I used the free version of this to clone it, done quickly.: AOMEIBackupperStd

When the other one arrives I'll put it in my desktop, I bought the bracket tonight when I got the SSD.

The CPU temps are normal and there are no signs they is any performance issues. Two beeps means something. So far I haven't found the beep codes for this BIOS. This laptop is 12 years old and I have 7 more just like this one just in case. But those others have an older BIOS that can't be upgraded to support Windows 7/8. The older BIOS works, but they think there are no speakers and won't use what is there.

I used many programs, but ATI is one of my favorites. I don't bother with installing it, but I just use the Linux boot CD and run the ATI software from there.

I got the DNA60 from the SXKBB out today. I didn't desolder all the buttons and charge board yet, just the battery and 510 so I could pull it out.

Hooked up an external battery, nothing, changed the screen out again, nothing?

Next I'll fully desolder everything and try again....

I've used Acronis and Macrium, paid versions of both. Acronis had problems and was unreliable as a backup solution plus their "support" wasn't very much help at all. Macrium seems a lot more reliable and consistent, at least for me. Cloning works well with both of them, even the free versions. I just used Macrium to clone from a platter to an SSD when I upgraded(?) my desktop with Windoohs 10.

This is was my first encounter with a USB3 device plugged into a USB3 port. In the end I put the removed disc HD into the USB3 enclosure and measured it's linear read speed. It was 95 Mbs in the external box and 89 Mbs when it was internal SATA, that surprised me.
The new lapotop came with only one 8Gb sick of memory. As I posted before I added a 4 GB stick from my old laptop. I discovered that running together their speed was 667 x 1.5 mhz and with just the 8 is was 800 x 1.6. So I removed the 4 Gb stick and ordered another stick of PC3-12800 (1600mhz)

I just remembered to get my Windows key pulled and recorded. No where inside or out does it have the label for it. This is Windows 10 Professional Enterprise, unless I'm mistaken I'll be a able to use this key for other installations of the same OS on other machines.

I have had decent results with Acronis, but I have been using them for years and worked out most of the kinks over time, albeit I totally agree their support sucks. The biggest problem I have had was trying to restore a bootable RAID array "full disc image" to a non-raid disk.

Acronis was routinely losing its login credentials to network resources. It got to the point of needing to be babysat to get a backup completed. So far, knock on wood, Macrium hasn't really had any problems a all.

After using enterprise grade stuff, Legato, for years, I can't say I'm a big fan of how their database works though. Neither Acronis nor Macrium even come close to what I grew so accustomed to.

I got my Dremel out and lowered the top of the posts on my Insider (styled), twisted 28 while not large should be able to be secured without the screw's heads bottoming out on the tops of the posts. Now they don't and ohm's are consistant now.
