What is weird is there are TP plants all over around here. And tons of logging trucks always delivering logs into the plants. And yet there is no TP in the stores here.

I just cant rationalize the need to hoard TP? I guess it's just one of those things people need to know they have?

Those paper plants have a real "special" smell.

There's a paper plant about 45 minutes west of here, its a very diSTINKtive smell for sure! The town is called Espanola, We nick named Es-Pue -my -nola :)

Roughly 25 years ago, I spent the better part of a week working on some equipment in one. It was an experience I've never wanted to repeat.

I worked in a small town years ago, they had an ice-cream factory there & once a day there was a discharge of some thing that smelled worse than any paper plant! It's not just paper, a lot of manufacturing facilities produce foul smells :(

On the desktop that I couldn't get the last two cumulative updates to install I upgraded to Version 2004 using the Windows Insider Program. At first I couldn't get that to work either. I upgraded my laptop to version 2004 then copied an entire registry key (WindowsSelfHost) from the laptop to the desktop and it worked. I was concerned that next month's update, to version 2004, was not going to work and I wanted to know now.

I ordered a 2020 I5 Macbook air a week ago, canceled it just now and bought another one. I increased HD size and added Apple Care+. My son starts his 4 year school this year after finishing his 2 year school earlier this year. If I could have persuaded him it would have been a Windows machine. For that kind of cash a pretty good Windows machine could have been had.

Did you look at the Amazon "Renewed" options? Some times a good deal can be had there :)

Yes, but those mostly have the troublesome keyboard and were still kind of pricey.

Both. My. Kids have the. Butterfly. Keyboards. (17& 18). MacBook Pro.
Only had issues with the. 17. & it was a battery issue, apple. Replaced the battery. & the key board on the 17. Free. We have no. Apple care. The 17 was. 2 years old when they did the work
The base model. MacBook Air for 2020. Is getting. Great reviews! :)
I did not. Get. Apple care. & don’t regret it :)

I never buy the extended warranty on anything but Apple Care+ is a bit different. We certainly have made use of it in the past, two iPhones replaced @ $99 each.

We (after a 3 week wait) just received a new 2020 MacBook Air in Space Grey. We went for the i7 and larger SSD and new keyboard. Got the USB C to USB adaptor.Just gotta decide when to use Migration Assistant (clean up before or after).

    Good choice dwcraig1!

Well maybe I do have something in common 'here' and can stop just shadowing the the thread. After spending my working years supporting Windows Enterprise servers and Windows desktops for a large corporation, when I retired in 2011 I went to the dark side and bought my 1st Apple Macbook (actually 2, one for the wife also). I was so tired and feed up dealing with Microsoft I figured I spend the big bucks just to not ever have to undo the damage an MS update caused.

Now we both have 2017 Macbook Pros with the butterfly keyboard and neither of us has had a problem. I still waffle about getting them replaced/upgraded under the 'free' offer from Apple.

I'm currently getting ready to move to Catalina which means I have to review what apps I'm using that won't run on a 64 bit only Catalina OS. So far it seems only my Canon camera s/w will become obsolete and I'll have to get new versions of 'it'. The other 32 bit apps I have loaded I haven't used in years so I'll not miss them.

So do tell us MikeE3, how much time have you wasted searching for drivers, waiting on updates, etc. compared to your Microsloth days? In your opinion, looking back, do you believe all the extra cost you paid was outrageous?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but they all come with a full 'Office' suite of always free upgrades and NO BLOATWARE.

I have 2 issues with Apple, mine just never die, and in order to have that sleek, thin form they now solder most components to the motherboard.
