Any network gurus? Wednesday we had a major internet (verizon) outage all around the area. Most towns and folks were back up by dinner time. We were back on-line but sporadically all Wednesday night. Would work for 2-5 minutes then be down for 20-40 minutes, then back up for a few minutes, etc. Went to bed hoping all would be fixed by Thursday morning.
Nope, next day same problem. After much 'hang/wait' time I got
through to a tech. He ran diagnostics and said the network was good to my area but he could see my router, so the router must be bad. I doubted that and even said if he waits will come back for a few minutes and then go away again. He still claimed the router was bad. So overnighted a new one to me.
Set the new one up Friday morning and 'yep' same problem. Could only stayed connected to the Web for a few minutes at a time. After way too much time trying to contact VZW support again, got a tech that again ran diagnostics ,,, couldn't find anything wrong so he dispatch a technician for a house call. I'm expecting them to show up tomorrow morning.
I spent 45 years in the computer field but never really got involved in the network area.
Just curious what/where in the flow from my router to the WWW a problem like this could be happening and what it might be. Hope they are sending knowledgeable tech.
