I should add that I am fairly new to this too. I have a blu/ Volcano mismash (would go for just the blu) that I like when I'm running around due to the size factor. I have 510s that I bought based on the beginner recommendations here. The battery doesn't last very long and I am forever refilling carts. I broke down and got a KR808 on sale and so far, this is my fave. Battery life is about 6 hours (for me) and a carto can last several hours. If I could have a "do over", I think I'd go for one of the big battery mods like the Chuck along with the KR808. More money at the outset but I vape a lot so I think I would've been more satisfied with the purchase.

As for juice? I am sooo loving Tasty Vapor. I may try Mrs. T's Bakery but right now, I am completely happy with TV.

PS: vapor4life has orange and pink batteries ;)

This sounds a lot like me. I smoked for 25 years (quit with both pregnancies) and quit last year for like 18 days and now, this quit. I smoked between 10-12 cigs a day (Viriginia Slim 120's non-menthol)....I just really miss the "act" of it I think.....the time out if you will, lol.

I guess I am still trying to "learn" the lingo.....cartridges, ejuice, nic levels....ugh...it can be maddening, but I appreciate someone else's newness too....

And I want pretty colors too, orange or pink will do....LOL:oops:

lol Cignot does have that pink eGo....

in all seriousness though the eGo lasts alot longer battery wise than a standard 510 like 8+ hours versus 1 hour....so it eliminates the need for carrying a bunch of batteries or a PCC (personal charging case) or a PT (pass through)...

honestly what I'd do is get an eGo kit (from where ever you like...it's the new stock PV on the block and more and more people are carrying it every day (one china company carries it in blue, green and red now too))an exra atomizer....and then a 510 battery to 901/808 adapter and some turbo cartomizers from vapornine...this lets you try out the cartomizer option on the eGo batteries as well (you could get 510 cartomizers so you wouldn't need an adapter but I think the adapter + turbo cartomizers perform better because you can adjust and "tweak" the airflow)...then you just need juice from wherever you like (juice tastes different on the 510 and 808 cartomizer, so it's up to you to see which you prefer)

I started with the Joye 510 starter kit with a personal charging case (pcc). I've since moved on to a boxmod for the more robust battery, I change batteries once a day now. I still think the 510 is a great starting place for someone interested in vaping; pricing on the starter kits does vary wildly, I got mine from strictlyejuice for about $35, but I've seen them for over twice that price; a little homework can save you some cash.

again why alot of people have stated cignot....they did win a vapy award for their customer service and value of their 510 starter kit...
another good reputable vendor is rocky mountain vaper...

if you just want to try it to see if you like it you could always try a disposeable kit $10 from someplace like madvapes (another reputable vendor)...disposeable meaning that it just cant be recharged as many times as a regular kit (and is generally 1 battery and 1 atty)...
for the most part our sugestions are aimed at getting you the most long term satisfaction for the least amout as possible...
But what we should be asking is what you're really looking for in an e-cig...flavor is beter on some than others, convienience is better on some than others, vapor production or throat hit is better on some than others, manual batteries (where you have to push a button) or autos (just take a drag (sometimes a little primer puff is required)), airyness of draw is different on different models too...oh and then the juice...some have a underlying rose/perfume or chemical taste to them
So all we can really say is what WE would do if we knew at the begining what we know now...and our preferences...
What we really need to know is your preferences...

oh and if you havent read it..find Dondaboomvape's thread(s) *theres 6 parts* the wide wonderful world of vaping (or a title along those lines)....

So I'll go into a little deeper detail in what I suggested...
eGo kit...from cignot....(I'd say janty because theirs has a 6 month warranty on it but they're often out of stock)...
cignot...good reputation and customer service..you can get it in pink if you want..has some clean juice...
the ego specifically because it's a 510 on steroids...figure that the battery is almost 5 times the capacity so it lasts way longer between recharges and thus cuts down on what you have to carry with you..yeah it's more expensive but figure in the increased cost of that or a PCC, a PT, several extra batteries...and you're still ahead with less stuff to carry around...the atomizer cone on the eGo improves on the vapor production, warmth and flavor over a standard 510...
Then the other option to the 3 piece design is the cartomizer models (adding an adapter and some good 808 cartomizers you can try and use these on your eGo battery)...and they tend to be slightly more convienient when you're on the go..

This is not an easy task.

You are SO Correct!!
I was at the point of option overload with all the "This model" with "That adapter" using "This Atomizer/cartomizer" with this and that and something else....
It seems like it would be a LOT easier if there weren't so many options out there but that's the price you pay when technology keeps jumping forward. I finally just sent an email to one of the vendors and a few hours later my phone rang. We talked for about a half hour and in the end he talked me out of the model I was looking at (which cost a lot more) and into an EGO. I place the order the next morning and the box arrived here 2 days later!!
I'm a very happy camper!

Reminds me years ago of a job I had... Us smokers could go outside and smoke. Nothing was ever said. We had an employee named Skip. The moment he stopped working to enjoy a Pepsi, the boss would ask him what he was doing? He replied "Smoke Break"! He didn't smoke! It's just the fact that as a society, we see it ok to stop working, go outside, and enjoy a cigarette. The minute a non-smoker stops working to enjoy a Coke, we wonder why he has stopped working!

Welcome to the asylum curlygirl :)

The words "overwhelmed" and "overwhelming" are pretty frequently found in subject lines in this sub-forum ... and that includes my first post here, LOL.

Lots of helpful folks here. Sometimes even responses to queries can be a bit overwhelming.

Lots of people have advocated the 510. It's a good starter. I would also recommend the eGo or Tornado (same thing) battery if you go the 510 route, they're much longer lasting batteries for the same 510 atomizer. The KR808 is also a great PV for starters due to its simplicity and low maintenance. I use both myself and feel the KR808 delivers great flavor.

Jump in. Get one. If you can afford it, get both! For me and lots of other folks, vaping has been kinda like trading an addiction for a hobby ... or maybe an obsession. You don't even WANT to know how much money I spent in my first month. And, it isn't necessary to break the bank. Put the cash into perspective by thinking about how much you used to spend on cigarettes. 8-o

I started vapeing about 6 weeks ago.

First purchase-Smoking Everywhere that was taken back in less than a week.
Second purchase- 510 no box starter kit from cignot, juices and extra attys and pcc
Third purchase- eGO from cignot as soon as they had them!

I use the eGO for my work horse and the 510 for my high nic "have to have" vape sessions. I use the pcc like a cig pack and carry my extra attys and charge my 510 battery. I have it down to a daily routine. Each night, I fill my carts and put my pcc on to charge. I charge my extra eGO batt. I fill the cart on the eGO I keep on my nighstand because if I wake up I want a couple of drags. I wake up place all my stuff in my little red bag and head to work. It sounds so overwhelming but it takes me less than 10 minutes. Less time it takes to hunt the whole house down for a lighter that works. So take a deep breath and jump in, the water's fine :)

Welcome Curly! I've been reading this forum and searching suppliers for at least 2 weeks now... I too am a quitter (that doesn't sound quite right in this context) that misses the act and taste of analogs.

Many here more wise than I have given their knowledge, but I'll add a bit more to the confusion. :) The 510 and KR808 are hands down the most popular recommendations. Their cost is similar and their main differences are really summarized by a previous post: The 510 takes playing with and the KR808 works but is a bit more costly.

I am now looking at, for myself, the DSE 901 (a mini pen style) or the DSE 801 (pen style). I've seen em as low as $27 for a kit. Oh, and super duper shipping and so you can start vaping!

You can check out Health Cabin for a cheap 901. Add the kit, atty, and a juice and you're good to go!
DSE901 Starter Kit In 10 Colors [DSE901] - $26.99 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail

Also if you look at the main forum page (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum) at the bottom are "Forum Suppliers". I just killed about 90 minutes going through them all. :)

I see you are in the Midwest too. Around me there are 21 Century Smoking kiosks in the malls. Stay away! Haven't found a single good thing about them yet.

Thank you all for your suggestions and input. I ended up at cignot and even though I was set on pink, I decided on the 510 kit with the 2 batteries and opted to try a manual and an auto....I ordered some blank cartridges and some low nic Marlboro juice. I did not order any different juice as that hole idea has confused me abit. I have read that it is not about the tobacco taste and such, but for now, that is what I wanted to try.

So far, the investment is about 85.00 dollars and I hope they ship quick, cause I am really anxious to discover this ecig world! :D

As I get more Ricco Suave about this, maybe I'll be boasting around this forum purdy darn soon! :)

I look forward to more posting and to my new world of vaporing!

So, e-cig tobacco tastes like rubber? Hmmmm, I think I will start with a small starter kit, and a money back guarantee.

I have several "tobacco" flavors on hand, and none of 'em taste like rubber. They don't exactly remind me of my days smoking a pipe either, but I've concluded that that's an unrealistic expectation (though I do on occassion get just the right combination of whatever that I think I want to get out my pipes again). There are quite a few posts here about tobacco flavors, and some people say they're getting very good equivalents. Somebody else, same juice, will not have the same taste.

Once your kit arrives and you get the chance to look at it, I think you'll find some clarification will just happen, especially with the juice. One thing to be sure to do is clean the primer fluid off the atomizers. Head for the 510 sub-forum and do some reading, especially the Everything you ever wanted to know about your 510 thread. Don't get overwhelmed by the initial cleaning part either. You just want to get that fluid they're packed in rinsed off and out.

Congrats on quitting smoking, and enjoy vaping. I use the 510, without any mods or bigger batteries or anything like that, and it's good for me. Yeah, a longer lasting battery would be nice, but it's overkill when you're just starting out. Get to know your 510 first. If it's not working for you, then look at the next step.

welcome curlygirl and congrats on your decision to try out e-cigs!

good job with choosing cignot! they were the first vendor i purchased my Joye 510 from, and i cannot begin to tell you how amazing Vicky and Terri are! the quality of their products is pretty damn awesome as well. my attys and all the other accessories are still going strong even after 45 days now. i would also recommend trying out their BASIC line of juices. i thought the pre-filled carts would be enough to get me started too, but i ended up ditching them as soon as i tasted their juice. i think it's nice to have some variety anyway. ;)

i think once you get a feel for what works for you, i would totally recommend upgrading to an eGo! the battery life is outstanding, and if you get the pink color, a portion of the sale will go to breast cancer research.

cignot is known for their super fast shipping and i see that you're located in the midwest (which is where cignot is located too), so you'll definitely get your kit soon. i live on the east coast and i got mine within 2 days. :D

best of luck to you and keep us updated! everyone here on ECF is super helpful, so don't hesitate to ask if you get stumped on anything.

ETA: i forgot to mention that i just got a small shipment of empty sampler bottles, so if you'd like to try some e-juice, i'd be more than happy to send you some if the Marlboro carts don't work out for you.

I don't know if anyone has said this before (im too lazy to read everything, sorry) but the tobacco flavored juices to ME smell/taste like an unlit cig, if that makes sense. I was a menthol smoker and have yet to try a menthol juice. And I really don't like the tobacco juice, but thats just me (because I was a die hard menthol-er)
My husband on the other hand really liked the tobacco juice :)

This may sound silly too....but I really don't want it to look like an analog....I would like some "color" to it...LOL...:sneaky:

I guess what is important to me is not having to mess with a lot of filling and such to begin with. I want something simple, a money back guarantee, preferably free, fast shipping. :p

I don't understand why at cignot that 501 has 2 batteries and is cheaper than the ego with only 1 battery

because the ego battery is much bigger than the 501 battery....

Wow, great information and thanks for the congrats! Quitting is hard, but I am really excited about trying this, strange eh:confused: I guess analog smoking in some strange gave me something to look forward to. I wrestled with getting any nicotine at all, because I am nicotine free (8 weeks on Sunday).....but, I want my husband who is teetering with being quit and smoking 3 analogs a day again to try it! :sneaky:

I am sincerely impressed with the amount of information and how everyone clammers in to help the "virgins"......I really feel great about this decision and I am happy to announce that I just got a confirmation email that this is being shipped as we speak. I wonder if they will deliver on Saturdays.......:D

Thank you all for your input and information and making me feel so welcome!
