Oh, one last question, btw. I read that 6mg is the highest nicotine strength reccomended for sub-ohm e-cigarettes. Is that accurate, or I can use higher nicotine strength?
You can. I’ve been known to vape 10mg/ml DL for example. 12mg/ml is not terribly unusual using unprotonated nic. It’s mostly a question of coughing more than anything else.

There’s a quasi rule-of-thumb that MTL uses about twice the the strength of DL. It’s very dependent on vaping style and individual though. vape what you like.

Very true. I DTA... As in, direct to atmosphere. It's sorta like DTL, but I don't inhale. When I restrict my airflow down, as the battery gets to dead, I get more of a nic rush from the same juice, due to a longer draw. I use protonated nic though, freebase gives me a headache, and reminds me too much of hard drugs...

So a mech atty then? A VV should give you the same voltage till the battery dies. If it’s VV and not doing that I become curious about the mod and batteries used.

It's a single cell 30A rated molicel 20700A, except it's one version later than the one mooch tested. I like an 80w vape, but I settle for 65, on this mod. The topside runs the battery down to 3.2v, so, with sag, drop, chip loss, etc., You get the idea. I've also tried vtc5a @55w, to the same effect, as well as a few other cells from various sources.

ETA: as well as a dual cell 20700 @120w

Fair ‘nuff. Makes me wonder about the topside board a bit, but topsides have their own advantages so it becomes kind of irrelevant. Might explain their move to the new board with their carbon ones though.

Thank you so much to everyone, you have been beyond helpful!

After looking at all of the suggestions, I decided to go for the Aegis Solo from Geekvape. Spent 146CHF (yep, I'm from Switzerland) for mod, tank, 2x Batteries, external charger, battery protection cases, replacement coils and 30mg of 6mg 30PG/70VG nicotine liquids (hoping to transition to max VG later on) which seems pretty reasonable. The stuff should arrive tomorrow.

I think it's actually throttling, as a 'feature.' in VW mode, I notice when the battery gets below nominal voltage, the displayed wattage during a pull is lower. On the molicel, it's 3.6, on the Murata, 3.7. I'm thinking the board notices voltage drop and acts accordingly. The topside really is minimal no frill, in all its incarnations,. My wismec had more bells, whistles, and buzzers, but none of them worked as well, out of the box. The YiHi topside to me seems like it'd do better in TC, maybe, but I can't find a feature other than it's weight and dual celll I'd be willing to pay any more for, but I like 2x700 too much. Plus, the dual is kinda fuhgly shaped... Not that the wismec rx2 wins any beauty pagents...

Not sure on conversion factors, moitarily, but that's a great setup. What batteries, if I may ask?

Which tank have you ordered?

I got the Cerberus tank that comes along with the Aegis Solo kit, since I couldn't find just the mod, so I'll try DtL vaping. If it doesn't satisfy me, I'll order either the Nautilus or the Nicolas, depending on which one's cheaper here in Switzerland.

The Sony Konion 18650 2600mAh.

The conversion rate now is 1CHF=1USD, so 146USD. :)

I haven't heard of konion, but I'm guessing you've got vtc5a. If so, great battery... Good for about 75w give or take. I do DTL, as stated above, but don't inhale... No real point to in with vaping, or so I feel. If your still smoking especially, but regardless, that much vapor, even from a 2-3 second semi-inhale, may feel like inhaling a sauna at first. Lowering the power well below the suggested wattage and reducing airflow should help.

Yep, it's a vtc5a! Also, thank you for the tips, I'll definitely try those settings. :)

I have a couple of the Cerberus tanks which came with my Aegis Mini and Solo. I consider them to be a pretty good tank. However, as you know it is a sub-ohm DTL tank.

I find using the recommended wattage range (>40 watts) to be quite a bit much for me, so I drop my wattage to around 16 - 20 watts. I still get plenty of vapor and good flavor production. You can turn the air control ring to almost closed to get close to a MTL experience.

You've purchased a very good setup (Aegis Solo/Cerberus/Sony VTC5A). :thumb:

If the Cerberus tank turns out to be a bit too much for you, you can always purchase a Zlide, Zenith, or Nautilus tank to go with your Aegis Solo.
