First question and I'll come back to this to check. What were your smoking habits before Packs a day that sort of thing? How may puffs or cigs in a single session? How long will a unit have to last on a single charge? Do you consider yourself a heavy, medium, light, occasional smoker

Educate yourself, my friend. You need to understand your options and what all of these new terms mean. That said, your question is not an easy one to answer.

Many people start with a cigarette-like form factor but find themselves dissatisfied by the short battery life, vapor production, and low e-juice capacity. Only light social smokers tend to stay with these. (i.e. the eRoll or the Magma are two of the many examples)

Quite a few find the eGo size unit (i.e. the fat sharpie pen size) suits them. Some of the newer ones offer a measure of variable voltage to customize your vaping with various e-juice. (Examples: the eGo, in many varieties/variants, or the Inferno)

A significant number of us have found the 'big cuban cigar' size (or pack of cigarettes size) 'mods' give is what we want and need. These tend to give the best vapor production, battery life, and e-juice capacity. These will most likely suit you best if you smoked more than a pack and a half of analogs a day. (eVic, Reo, Lavatube, Volt, etc, etc)

You generally will get what you pay for. Going 'cheap' can be an exercise in frustration. My best advice is to be honest with yourself and figure up how much you were spending on cigarettes per month and every month for the next three months count on buying ejuice and a new device each month. Try a good device from the lower category in the first month, then in the middle category the next month. If the middle device is too much, keep that for home use while your smaller carry-around-kit is charging. If middle is better, then in month three invest in a larger device and retire the others for emergency use or travel backups.

This only really covered the battery aspect of e-cigs. You need to work out the other two essential aspects of vaping too. I.E. Which E-juice delivery system (cartos/clearos/tanks) and what e-juice (PG/VG ratio? nicotine strength? flavor?) suits your needs and desires.

yeh, that is very practical for me, and i will make a clear knowledge of those different kinds of e-cigs. follow those three steps, and i have one more question, have you ever tried Vivi Nova before, i heard it is very popular among people.

i m an IT engineer and i work pretty hard, when i get a break during my work time, i just cannot help thinking of smoking. when i get up every morning, i'd like to have one and before going bed, i will have one too. on average, 8 cigarettes a day. that is all my situations. please do me help.

Hi

Since you don't smoke very much and it sounds like you need something small to carry to work, you might want to look at an eRoll. I doubt this is the best price (I'm just posting this to show you what it looks like). There also reviews on youtube. Joye eRoll Electronic Cigarettes, Starter Kits & Accessories by Joyetech

Oops! I misunderstood what you wanted. A Vivi Nova won't work on an eRoll, it is for eGos and larger.

This is a Vivi Nova showing the components of a top coil clearomizer. The wicks draw the liquid in the tank up to the replaceable heating element (head). Vivi Novas are sometimes called “tanks” (because they hold liquid), but operate like any other top coil clearo. The wicks come in various lengths and the heads in different resistances.

1. Ocelot is a genius - listen to her.

2. Ego is a great starter kit - something between the "cigalike" gas station setups and a serious device. I smoked 10-15 cigs a day and this is the perfect setup for me - tons of accessories so you can make it as serious or as simple as you like, plus a lot of the stuff you buy will still be useful if you upgrade later.

3. A few weeks into using, I'm probably consuming a bit more nicotine than I was when I was smoking (being a fairly light smoker as compared to others on this forum). I don't feel bad about that, rather I'm happy I'm off the analogs and I'll start tapering off once I'm sure the real cigs are gone for good.

Welcome, and good luck!

This is a repost. Do you feel your situation wasn't understood?

This thread seems very odd to me for some reason. Is it only me or am I a very cynical person?

For being an IT engineer this person is having a lot of communication problems. And I'm not talking about having a beginner's knowledge of e-cig vocabulary (that I could understand and would expect), but just in getting their thoughts across period. The whole situation seems a bit strange, too. Not even a 1/2 ppd smoker. Excuse me if I'm wrong.
