A couple of the conversations I've had with current smokers regarding e-cigs go something like this (very basic version):

Sm: Well, they still have nicotine.

Me: Yes, but a lower level and without the other 4,000 chemicals that are found in analogs.

Sm: So what's in them?

Me: Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, Nicotine and flavoring

Sm: Propylene Glycol?!?! OMG. Yeh, like that's really good for you!!!!! Seriously? (while rolling eyes)

You get the gist.

Please give me the quick and dirty explanation for the benefits of e-cigs so I can pass it along in a positive manner. How do you handle these types of conversations?

BTW, as of today I'm a week off of analogs and feeling great!!!

Generally, if someone isn't open-minded and receptive to new ideas there's really no point in arguing with them.

Absolutely right! If a person has their mind made up there's nothing you're going to be able to say to convince them otherwise... Knock down one of their objections and they'll just come up with another one... And, usually, the more you knock down the more ridiculous the objections become... Best to just chalk it up to ignorance and walk away...

Well, I switched almost 3 weeks ago and I haven't had to hit my asthma inhaler for the past 3 days and I was hitting that thing 5-6 times a day. That's enough to convince me that I've done the right thing. I don't smell like an ashtray anymore and I don't have to go outside in the weather anymore. I feel free now and those are just a few of the added benefits, there are hundreds and everyone has their own success story and the benefits to them personally.

I say, if they are only looking for negative then there is nothing you can do about that, just live your new life and let them see the benefits for themselves...after all, seeing is believing ;)

As mentioned PG is used in inhalators, disinfecting hospitals via the venting system, also used in certain operations and pharmacies use it as a carrier for certain medications. Vaping also stimulates blood vessel growth in the gums.
My GP, Surgeon, Dentist and Dental Hygienist all support my vaping and have witnessed an incredible improvement in my health.

Ditto on the thumbs up!!!:thumb:
I was cleaning out my nightstand last night and noticed some cough syrup. One of the ingredients was PG.
When someone asks me,"what's in it?" I tell them it is something they are alread injesting in foods, medicines or something and then tell them what it is.

PG is like sugar...they are both in many, many products. Watched a great Documentary awhile ago called The Sugar Cartel...shocking to say the least.

Didn't know about new blood vessels in the gums, cool! Is imagine that's really good considering all the harm smoking does to your teeth and gums!

I'll be honest here, and admit that since I started vaping last week, I've had this little niggling worry in the back of my head about inhaling vaporized PG. Yes, it's in blueberry muffins and shampoos and the like, things we use every day - but you don't inhale them (well, maybe the muffins. I love muffins.)

What I didn't know was the connection between PG and asthma inhalers! Suddenly everything makes a lot more sense, doesn't it?

And when anyone tries to tell me that it's still smoking, or it's just as bad as cigarettes, I tell them that I'm no longer inhaling the contents of a burning building, and that it tastes better, too!
