I am having terrible luck with my first tank. Every carto I put in I've fried!

Here's the tank.

Here's the carto's I have/trying to use.

Here's the liquid I'm trying to use with it. 18mg nic, 33% VG

Now, I put in roughly 40-50 drops in the carto to the point is starts leaking out the holes and the filling looks like a slushy. Then put in tank, fill tank, and tried to use. Poof, burned filling. So, try again, but let tank sit a good 15 minutes and primer puff before trying to take a puff off it with the button pressed. POOF! Try one more time, try to punch additional holes in carto, ended up ruining that cart and it's basically square instead of round, toss that one and decided to try one more time. again. Fill carto, fill tank, let sit overnight so I KNOW the filling should all be saturated, primer puff a lil until it seems like it's on the verge of flooding and then go to take a hit......

poof.

Serisouly? what could I be doing wrong? About to just go get some Kanger T2's and a bunch of heads and call it a day.

I'd personally try it on a lower voltage. Normally with a new feed I start on the low end and bump it up every couple puffs. Different juices get a burny taste at different watts. With the 1.5 I just wrapped (I know it's not a carto, just an example) I started at 3.2v and finally ended up at 3.5v, much higher this juice was getting pretty harsh.

Wow, that totally sucks!! I have those tanks and love them. But I prefer single coil cartos too, especially in tanks. Dual coils do seem to burn a lot hotter and I don't have much luck with them. They burn out faster. I've got some single coils that have lasted me more than a month. But I second the advice here.. start at the lowest voltage you can and inch up from there. I have one juice that absolutely burns immediately if I vape it above 3.4 volts.. nasty!!

I use single coil 3ohm cartos, but I have LR DC cartos with no problems. I've used 1 hole, 2 hole and the only problem I ever had was not getting the carto fully filled and then it burns quickly. I always make sure the juice is starting to seep out the punched hole/holes on the carto and it starts to drip out the bottom. When I have them filled that way I've never had a problem. My VG runs 30 to 40% and it hasn't caused any problems with cartos/tanks.

Do you have another device you can try it on? I can only guess that you may have a bad batch of cartos or their is a problem with the device.

Standard cartomizers and stardusts work flawlessly on my ProVari, I must just be running too high of a voltage and frying them. If I kill another I will go out and get some higher res single coils and try that instead. I have vaped off a tank like this and it really seemed to work well, so it would be nice to have my all day juice(RY4 or Pure Michigan) in one of these for less fuss in refilling.

hmmm, that's interesting. I can go all the way down to 2.9V, so I'll start out there to begin with. I know one of the guys over at Mr. E's actually runs his DCT's at 4.1V and has no problems, but that is probably due to the fluid he's using I guess.
Actually? :)

Those Smok duals can take a lot of volts, much more than the same ohm singles. Many folks routinely run them at 5+V.

To the OP, something don't makes sense, but running true 3.8V on a Provari is not too much voltage. Something else is wrong.

Apparently I am an epic failure when it comes to these lol. Dripped about 50 drops into the filler until it was coming out of the breather at the bottom and the 2 pre-punched holes in the side of the carto, put it in and filled the tank, let it sit about an hour so sit and soak standing up, then used the method in the video link above from klynnn to make absolutely sure that the carto was soaking wet. Set my provari for 2.9V and......

poof.

LOL, I am just going to go into the shop with the last carto from this pack and have them show me and do it with them in person. I can't believe I have fried/destroyed almost a whole pack of cartos.

Maybe you just prefer a cooler vape. I know that I do.

I've tried those 1.5 ohm dual coils in my cartotanks, and they were just too harsh for me. The juice tasted scorched. And this was on an unkicked Silver Bullet. I started using 2.o ohm cartos, and they were much better, but I still thought I detected burnt taste occassionally. I read here that a lot of people prefered single coils, so I gave them a try.

I switched to these:

Single Coil XL Tank Cartomizer for the SmokTank XL and I'm much happier. Just as much vapor production, flavor is great, and no more burnt taste since changing 2 months ago. I also have noted a moderate increase in battery life. I use the single hole for normal 50/50 PG/VG and two holes for higher VG.

Note the spelling. I don't know if these are made by Smoktech or if Smoktek has them made for them by someone else. The 2.0 ohm are great on my 3.7v mods, and the 3.0 ohm work great on my Provari. YMMV.
