I never denied it was stealing, nor did I say it's right to do any of the aforementioned things. Based on your reply I doubt you glazed over more than the last line. Perhaps a more accurate term for what you claim isn't stealing would be swindling. It's a lesser of two evils kind of situation, and you're damn right I'm cheering it on.

Now we descend into ad hominem attacks and deflection.

sigh

"use deception to deprive (someone) of money or possessions."
Obviously you don't know what selling a battery holder made of "premium materials" is.
Oh, I do. All I buy is originals, and I've never been swindled.

Now that you know the definition of swindling, you should know that it doesn't apply.

Honestly who gives a f### what other people buy, and why.

If you get gratification out of buying an authentic mod, do it. I see the allure. Knowing you have a 'real' one. Supporting the original manufacturer. Knowing what kind of craftsmanship went into the product. All of that. I really do get it.

I personally don't have it in my budget to be spending that much when there is a more than suitable equivalent for a fraction of the cost.
Is it a F###ed up situation? Yes, but in my opinion, only in regards to it being a "clone". It's really just a counterfeit. If it was the same design without the markings an advertised as such, I'd have no problem.

Even if the clones were being made as such, or I did have the money for an original, I'd never be caught spending that much money on such a device. The practical advantages are negligible to me. Especially at the cost difference.

Here's a little food for thought and another pro for clones...
My current Mech mod is a chi you clone.. hefty solid ss and works a real treat. I take it to work with me everyday and it gets used quite often in the auto maintenance shop I work in. Comparatively it was definitely on the cheap side purchase wise. Now, hypothetically, take that away from me and give me a brand new Authentic Chi You in SS.
Here's the problem..
I started using Mech mods over vv/vw units because they are simple and VERY durable.. my work environment is brutal to say the least, and try as I might, it still managed to end up dropped on the concrete floor and even got kicked once. Left a few scratches I had to buff out, but on the walk home, I was still vaping it, and it was functionally no worse for the wear. If this had been a 150+ chi you original.. I wouldn't have had the heart to take it to work with me, and that to a minor degree would have negatively impacted my overall vaping experience.. That said.. a legit Chi you is still on my bucket list of vape gear, but If I ever get one, it would never see usage or around my garage.. So this pro goes to the clone, cause I don't mind to much if it gets about the same daily abuse as I do.. It's just a clone :D

Both are affordable mech mods. One is a rip-off clone, and one isn't. If I were in the market for a tube-steak mech mod (I'm not), I'd buy a Magneto (or similar); I would not buy a rip-off clone.

And that is your decision to make ; where you spend your money. Just as it's my decision where I spend mine. And every other individual. Where is it any 1 persons place to dictate where any other person spends there money? The person spending the money is the one that has to live with what that money is spent on.

It's not that I don't want to pay the designer who came up with it - I don't want to pay his/fer inflated prices.
Then don't buy a product that he designed! Buy a product designed by someone who doesn't charge "inflated prices". But if you really must have one that's a copy of his design, at least buy it from someone who doesn't put the original designer's logo on it and doesn't lie about where it's made.

I'm not dictating anything. I'm suggesting it's ethically preferable to support manufacturers that compete fairly by designing their own stuff instead stealing other people's designs, and even worse, mis-representing their products by putting other people's logos on 'em and lying about where their made. There was a time when people valued honesty and ethics. I'm saddened that this no longer appears to be the case.
