This is a tough one. My brother is convinced that I am still smoking. I went threw my entire arsenal and can't convince him. I did agree with him that I still have the hand to mouth habit. Currently my wife is using the patch which is 7mg and I vape only 3mg. I tried telling him it is another way to deliver nic to be but he is a hard head. Any one have any ideas on this matter. I really believe this is the general public opinion on this. Wish they had studies done on it to inform people.

I wouldn't even bother.

He obviously does not want to celebrate your success of giving up the deadly analouge habit with you.
Even if he would make the slightest attempt to research the topic he would understand the benefits and that his statements are wrong.

You cannot please everyone - at the end of the day you do it for your health and your peace of mind.

I do not even buy into these arguments as they are pointless and do not change my point of view which is well researched and I try to keep informed and educated about the topic.

I refuse to be judged by people who haven't and won't do some research of their own on the topic or refuse to even consider the 'truths' I have come to learn.

I would explain what its made up of, what each ingredient is, benefits of vaping to me, like being able to breathe, not sounding every morning that I was about to cough up a lung. Next up for me is him to find proof that it is bad for you. I am proud of quitting and he caught me off guard with the remarks.

Yeah I have a jackass friend who get's all high and mighty when he quits cold-turkey (two times now over 15 years), and when I told him about vaping, he was just as indignant about it as analogs even though he had no knowledge/experience regarding vaping. He claimed that even though it wasn't an analog, people around still would think it stinks, and when I mentioned the only smell was the flavor/scent and that you could have un- flavor/scented, he still exclaimed that people think it stinks. You just can't teach some people - and usually it's the "ex"-smokers.

It sounds like there may be some sibling rivalry going on in your case. Just tell your brother that he's got more intestinal fortitude than you do because he did it cold turkey and go on your merry way. Do you really need his approval? Who cares how people stop smoking, the point is they don't smoke any more, right? You'll never win with people like him, there will always be something you're still doing wrong.

My wife doesn't like the hand to mouth habit but supports me 100% about using vaping not to go back to smoking. I should add he is an exsmoker, quit cold turkey, no help. I explained I can't do that. I wouldn't last a week.

I've never experienced this, but I've read on ECF that the ex-smokers can have the most hate on for us. It's like we are cheating, doing it the easy way or generally having it way too easy. Keep in mind too, you just can't get acceptance from everybody all the time, though I know it can be tough if it's a close family member. We really only have control over ourselves. Can't make anyone see things our way if they don't want to.

Well he is right...sort of. My wife told me I just traded one habit for another. Which is really the truth, and that's ok. I am happier, healthier, and wealthier. She really digs the fact that I don't smell like an ash tray. I really enjoy vaping and plan to do it as long as I want. I wanted to quit smoking for my health, and for my wife and kids. I found vaping. It was the only method that has worked for me, after many, many failures. I am stoked with my new "crutch".
Now if he thinks it's really smoke, blow a cloud of vapor through a white napkin. If that doesn't work, oh well. We all know what it is and its all good!!!

I have the habit of having a good breakfast in the morning every day followed by a cup of coffee. I have the habit of brushing my teeth. I have the habit of bathing every day. I have the habit of washing dishes after I eat. I have the habit of washing my clothes after I wear them once, twice at the most. I have the habit of cleaning my apartment at least once a week. I have the habit of using an ecig instead of smoking cigarettes.

What's wrong with habits?

I work with a whole shift of people that give me the same rash of crap. After just a couple of weeks they have slowed down a bit. I'm seeing one of the loudest guys starting to warm up to the ideal, said his daughter is having an awful time trying to quit smoking. I hope you find away to get your brother settled down, but I wouldn't sweat it.

Here's a little more ammunition:

Ryuan E-cig Benchtop Tests.

Health risk analysis by Roly on ECF. Look at the links in the notes section too.

E-cigs don't harm heart.

Thanks everyone, I am going to hit him with this and end that part of the conversation about it.

Smoking is the inhalation of the smoke of burning tobacco encased in cigarettes, pipes, and cigars. Casual smoking is the act of smoking only occasionally, usually in a social situation or to relieve stress. A smoking habit is a physical addiction to tobacco products. Many health experts now regard habitual smoking as a psychological addiction, too, and one with serious health consequences.

Dam, now i am depressed, think i'll have to buy a new mod(lol):)

"Family members think its still smoking!!!!"

This is going to sound kinda harsh, but I think my response would be, "Ok...so?" and move on. As long as you and your wife are ok with it, that's pretty much all that matters. If he starts in on a rant, look at him, listen (or appear to be listening), nod, say "ok" occaisionally, and really, just don't give him anything to work with. Eventually he'll blow himself out of hot air. Verbal Jiu-Jitsu.
