Hmm. This post has gone in a different direction than I expected. When I smoked, I never dreamed about smoking. When I switched to vaping, it took a while before the smoking in my dreams appeared. As I said, I've not had one puff EVER since I picked up a vape in 2013.

But in my dreams, i start smoking again - although I know don't smoke anymore. I tell myself I'm not a smoker, and I'll go back to vaping. But i smoke another one, and another one etc. All the while, I know I'm lying to myself and others because I keep saying I don't smoke anymore. And I haven't smoked, but there I am smoking!

I'm not looking for a way to stop the dreams. I find myself more resolved to not smoke because of them. I only wanted to share the grip tobacco still has on my subconscious many years later.

Other (minor) tobacco alkaloids (nicotine is a major alkaloid in a tobacco leaf), perhaps, but nobody knows exactly which one of them. Tobacco MAOIs.

This has been discussed here for a very long time. Here's a nice post from DVap, one of the inventors (if not THE inventor) of WTA eliquids (he helped Aroma create their WTA formula).

So - are we getting it or are we not - nicotine

Yes, I'm familiar with Aroma. I tried raising to high nic to combat the cravings at first (24-36 mg) and tried a couple of Aroma's WTAs. I no doubt inhaled more nicotine during those first several months off the cigs than I ever did when smoking. But I still went through withdrawal. I found no difference with the 24 mg WTA. There's something else in the cigs that's addictive. It's not the nicotine alone.

More than 4 years later, I'm down to 6-12 mg. I mix my own juice, and build my own coils. But my subconscious still craves whatever is in that Marlboro that I can't recreate with a vape.

But, you're not having any actual cravings, right? It's only in your dreams?

If so, then smoking isn't necessarily in any kind of control of your subconscious.

Smoking will always represent/symbolize some things to you. What else might your dreams be telling you through the symbolism of smoking? Does smoking represent feelings of helplessness, a certain time in your life, certain kinds of situations in your life, . . . . . .

A similar thing happened to me! Didn't dream about smoking for 30+ years while I smoked. Then I started getting these smoking dreams. After I switched to Vape over 4 years ago, I still have those smoking dreams, where I can't find my next pack of cigs, in the fog of dark night.
