I have a Nitecore I4 charger (got it off eBay). The included documentation stated the following:

"When one or two batteries are charged, each slot will receive a maximum output current of 750 mA."
"When four batteries are charged at the same time, each charging slot will receive a maximum output current of 375 mA."

The I4 may not be the best charger available, but it's pretty good for a universal charger (it will charge Ni-Cd and Ni-MH).

Did you get the version 1 (White label) or the version 2 (yellow label)? The infor sheet on the one I ordered said 500mA charging 4 batts, and 1000mA charging 2.

The manual says the same thing, fyi - 750 shared in pairs. (1/2 and 3/4 each get 750, so you can charge 2@750 in slots 1/3.)

Review of Charger SysMax/NiteCore i4 V2 has details if you want pictures and tests :).

I managed to salvage some oldish nimh that the cheap energizer charger wouldn't charge anymore by running them through the i4 (4 at a time.) Worked like a champ :)

What I meant is the amazon seller's description listed the nitecore i4 as 500mA x4 / 1000mA x2.
The actual charger that I received was 375mA x 4 / 750mA x 2. They refunded my $$ when I asked if I got the right charger or was the information false. I didn't ask for my money back, they just did it. I will not even think to send the charger back until or unless they get in touch with me and answer those questions.

Boy did my VP1 get here quick, I ordered it monday. Seems nice, display is very clear. I'll probably use it for 18350 and 18650 with my Pila handling 18490/500. I use more 18490's than anything else so it'll be easier to leave the spacers in.

I'm definitely interested in hearing your impressions of it.
It looks like a really nice charger.

It looks like a really nice charger.

Quick impressions are that it's a pretty long, which is expected with the screen as compared to my Pila. The screen is clear and easy to read, it seems to be charging accurately by the things I have to measure by, cheapo multimeter and just checking on my provari. It also reads batteries charged by my Pila at 4.18 or 4.19 which seems to be correct too.

I like the three settings as I can charge my 18350's slowly and my 18650's quickly, the lack of a need for any spacers is nice and the spring loaded contacts feel stiff/sturdy. All in all I think it's a nice charger and probably good for someone just getting into mechs despite the price tag (I paid 50.99 shipped). When I first started using mechs, I constantly wondered if I was draining to low or if I was being paranoid and charging too soon. With this, you can just pop the battery in quick and see. Also, with the 250ma charging option, it's good for those with 10440's or 14500 imr's.

For details and information from someone who knows what they are talking about...unlike me, see here

I couldn't find it, but there was a thread about long charging times for a new Trustfire TR-001 a week or two ago. The guy who had the problem was an electronic tech who measured the output to the battery at something like 160ma using test equipment inline with the battery. He is sure that there was a component problem at the factory where they are made and there's no way at this point to tell how many made it to the market.

Talk to your vendor and see if he has a bulletin concerning low charge rates. My 3 year old TR-001 charges my AW 18650 IMR batts in 4 hours at 500ma.

you made me feel better. I just got my trust fire tr-001 last night. Start charging 2 new batteries, 2000mah, at around midnight. Took one off this morning to smoke. One left in there until now, 13 hours and still not full. The one I took out this morning said 4v on my Tesla. Now it is at 3.7v. With this charging rate, there is no way I don't charge it at night, as some articles recommended. I think I only can watch while charging if it only takes 10 mins :)

Hello,

I've been using a mod (a vamo) for two weeks after 6 months with standar ego batteries and I'm loving it :)

The only part that bothers me is my charger, it is sloooow, I have a trustfire tr-001 and it takes 8 hours to charge a 900 mah 18350 and 15 hours for an efest 18650 2000 mah!!!

Not sure if that is normal, but i wouldn't mind a faster charger, any recommendations?

Thanks
Jvad

Xtar SP2 Nr.1 on my list too. High drains can be charged at 2A, and there is no other charger that can do that.

There is one good reason people call Trustfire , Trust Me Fire ;)

I don't use trustfire batteries but I would think most any battery would be ok to charge at a 1C rate, so as long it's over 2000mah or can handle more than a 1C charge. (But obviously check the battery specs)

I have been charging lipo's for years for RC and I try to charge everything at 1C or lower, regardless of if it can handle more. Maybe it is in my head, but batteries just seem to like it and last longer.
