Noticed something on the back of the madvapes business card they throw into shipments that confirms your point:

Battery.............. Single Coil...........Dual Coil
519,901,808...........2.0-3.2 ohms.........not recommened
eGo...................2.0-3.2 ohms ........1.5-1.7 ohms
3.7 Volts.............1.7 to 3.2 ohms..... 1.5-1.7 ohms
5 Volts...............2.5 to 3.2 ohms......2 ohms
6 Volts...............3.2-4.5 ohms........ 2.5 ohms
7.4 Volts.............4 to 5 ohms......... 3 ohms

The SmokTech Dual Coil cartos I ordered from fasttech are 2.5 ohms. Based on the chart, I need a 6 volt battery. Are there any cheap 6 volt batteries I can pick-up? Would this one work?

$14.64 X6 1300mAh Variable Voltage Rechargeable Battery for Electronic Cigarette at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

i don't know about the X6 in particular but i had a similar device 1 year ago with 3 fixed voltages. to be honest i didn't like it. i might find it and post a picture. it was a 3.2, 3.7, 4.0. dunno about X6, it might be very good but i doubt it since i don't see many people use it. if i remember correctly the problem with mine was a very big voltage drop under load.

Thanks. I really appreciate the input. I plan to stash the Dual Coil Cartos away once they arrive:

$7.61 Authentic Smoktech 510 Dual Coils Cartomizers (5-Pack) 5-pack - 2.5 ± 0.2

Since I don't currently have a battery designed to support the Authentic Smoktech 510 Dual Coils Cartomizers, I'll keep them in reserve. No point in filling them with juice and messing them up.

My recommendation: next time you're getting some FT goodness, this:

$24.80 iTaste VV Voltage Adjustable 800mAh Rechargeable Battery - two digit display / with USB charging cable at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

It doesn't say it, but under discussions they're shipping the version 3, which is VV and VW, with ohms meter, battery status, usb passthrough (sorta, you can use while charging). Goes to 5 volts, or 11 watts.

Thanks. That looks real cool. I have 4 FastTech orders in the pipeline. Still waiting to receive my first FastTech order. My PayPal account is taking a rest for now. That iTaste VV Voltage Adjustable 800mAh Rechargeable Battery might be something I find under the Christmas Tree.

this is my most used all FT setup. as for now i don't need more in vape quality and ease of use and rebuild. the blue part of the k100 is an excellent gripping point making it very easy to use the bottom switch. other mech mods i have are not that comfortable to hold because they tend to slide when you press the fire button.

the smoktech cartomizers work fine. but there are a couple of things you need to know.

1) they are dual coils so they tend to not perform properly on my fixed voltage ego batteries. no problem on all VV's

Ordered five of these to solve my problem:

Smok Tech 510 2.5 Ohm Cartomizers, Single Coil

Do you suppose they will match-up well with with these batteries I ordered from FastTech?

$3.37 510-T 180mAh Automatic USB Rechargeable Battery for EGO Electronic Cigarette at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Even though the batteries have a week head-start, the cartos will definitely arrive sooner.

Just ordered one of these today for my wife she wanted something small that would do everything my Vamo would.

why don't you try a lower ohm carto? perhaps in the 1.5-2.0 ohm range. 2.5 either dual or single coil seem a bit high for any fixed voltage battery

I'm open to trying anything that will work. I was looking at that chart on the back of the MadVapes business card:

Battery.............. Single Coil...............Dual Coil
510,901,808.......2.0-3.2 ohms............not recommended
eGo...................2.0-3.2 ohms .........1.5-1.7 ohms
3.7 Volts............1.7 to 3.2 ohms...... 1.5-1.7 ohms
5 Volts...............2.5 to 3.2 ohms.........2 ohms
6 Volts...............3.2-4.5 ohms........ . 2.5 ohms
7.4 Volts.............4 to 5 ohms............ 3 ohms

2.5 ohms looked to be right in the middle of the range recommended for the batteries I ordered. 2.0 ohms would have been perfect for the 3.5v to 3.7v output these batteries put out. That might explain why MadVapes was out of stock on those.

https://www.fasttech.com/forums/1325009/t/1003485/what-works-best

Going below 2.0 ohms seemed to be too hot.

I appreciate all of the information you've shared. This whole exercise reminds me of something a co-worker said to me once: "if you don't makes mistakes sometimes, then you aren't learning anything".

glad to help. when i started there was very little info about some really bad devices and everything was so confusing.

I think I found a silver lining to buying the Smoktech 510 2.5 ohm Dual Coils Cartomizers (5-Pack)
$7.61 Authentic Smoktech 510 Dual Coils Cartomizers (5-Pack) 5-pack - 2.5 ± 0.2

I can use my new passthrough device that will put out 5 volts. And, according to an article I read Technical Info About Replacement Cartos for Tanks | V4L Official Blog
the 2.5 Dual Coils deliver excellent flavor:

2.5ohm Dual Coils

"These cartos have an actual range of 2.4-2.6ohms. They work just like the 1.5 and 2.0ohm dual coils, but also feature two 5.0ohm range coils. While they do produce less vapor in comparison to the 1.5 and 2.0ohm dual coils, the flavor profile can be overwhelming. Every nuance of a juice is brought out by these (which become my favorite with Nuport WOW and Wowboy). The battery life on these is a little shorter than that of the 2.0ohm single coils, but best of the dual coils. They work on a passthrough with the V4L Wall Adapter, but will be hit or miss with the car adapter."

the smoktech cartomizers work fine. but there are a couple of things you need to know.

1) they are dual coils so they tend to not perform properly on my fixed voltage ego batteries. no problem on all VV's
2) to use in a tank you have to strip and slot them. big slots with a dremel tool give best results.

i would prefer they stocked single coil 45mm smoktech cartos though

You're right. I just received the Smoktech Dual Coil Cartomizers today.
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1411000

I filled one with Boba's Bounty and tried it on a eGo passthrough:
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1368706

I got nothing. It heated up, but I could hardly taste anything. Tiny bit of vapor. I also tried it on a eGo Variable voltage set to 4.2 volts. Same thing. I think I'll be doing the reverse Taryn Spin to see if I can reclaim the juice.

These Dual Coil Cartos will be sitting in a drawer until I find something strong enough to drive them.
------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: I got the Dual Coils working with my passthrough device.

I reclaimed the 100% VG Boba's Bounty and replaced it with Azure Vapings Smooth. Smooth is 80/20. I read that the Dual Coils take longer to heat-up and figured that the 100% VG juice could be part of the problem. I'm getting vapor now with the higher PG blend. Does that make any sense?

making sense about china handmade cartomizers by quasi slave workers is asking a bit much. my strong advice is to avoid ANY FT cartomizers . they are very very unreliable. of all the cartos i have bought from them only the smoktech ones were a bit better but still not as good as smoktech cartos i usually buy in the states. i honestly don't know if they are the same or fakes or worse products or what else.
