Slow charging of your batteries is preferable to fast chargers.Just buy more batteries and keep them in rotation, in the long run you'll save money.

Faster charge+ more heat.....heat+batteries=bad

This has been my understanding as well, with years and years of rechargeable battery experience.

" Lithium-ion suffers from stress when exposed to heat, so does keeping a cell at a high charge voltage. A battery dwelling above 30°C (86°F) is considered.elevated temperature.and for most Li-ion, a voltage above 4.10V/cell is deemed as.high voltage. Exposing the battery to high temperature and dwelling in a full state-of-charge for an extended time can be more stressful than cycling. Table 3 demonstrates capacity loss as a function of temperature and SoC."

Just to clear up what I said, excessive heat is not good, but if a battery is warm to the touch, that's not a problem.

Thanks zapped...After all the reading & all the info upload, I believe I'm going to stick with my very sloooow but sure charger & just get another slow charger for back-up. I do rotate all the time & was just hoping to speed up the charging process, however, since batteries still scare the heck out of me, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Thanks again for the advice, I really appreciate it.

I've had two XTAR six bays for about six months now. They were well worth the price and I'm quite fond of their performance.

Hi DP...I've never heard of XTAR before this thread (which doesn't mean anything) only heard of Pila & how costly they are. My 'trustfire' was a gift so I didn't even shop for that. I've been told that charging a single batt is quicker than doing 2 or more...how do you feel about that? It does make sense to me, but, on the other hand I honestly don't know a thing about the subject & am just relying on all you guys for guidance.

If you only need a two-bay, you can get one at Xtar MP2 dual channel / Dual Voltage Charger - DiscountVapers.com

If you need the six though, Eric doesn't appear to carry those any longer. But Orbtronics does, at WP6 II 6 channel li-ion battery charger for 3.7V batteries

My wife and I both vape, so sometimes I'm charging 4-6 at a time, and it never seems to take all that long. A few hours, at most, for 2200mah 18650's.

It's definitely faster than the TrustFire one I had been using previously, but that's more from observation than scientific study (I must be honest about that).

Any my apologies, but I just noticed that Eric is actually sold out of the two-bay one also. They're around though - I think Orbtronic has both (the six and the two).

Thanks....I checked Eric's site last nite & noticed that he was out of most chargers, I've bought other goodies from him previously & have been very pleased all the transactions.

I just checked out Orbtronic & what a NICE site, I've never been there but have marked it. Thanks a mil for the lead, I'll probably go thru them as it looks like they have my batts at a very good price. :)

My pleasure, Mom. I'm glad I could help - and glad I brought something of value to the table today.

I'm using a Efest Bio and love it. Charges my 1100 mah 18500's in a little more or less than a hour. Also came with a car adapter so I can use it in a bind while camping. :)

Thanks Covert.....As if I wasn't confused enuf! Just kidding, I'll check that one out also. Little less then 1 hr. is really quick, wish my 2600mah charged like that......thanks again.

A bit late to the party, but in case anyone else digs up this thread while searching as I did:

I recently had the same problem with a brand new Trustfire charger. Long story short, even though it is rated for 500ma, I put a current probe between it and a battery and determined that mine was maxing out at around 147ma. At that rate, my 2000 mah 18650s were taking 10-12 hours to charge up after a full day's use. Crappy charger is crappy.

Good quality = Pila. I hear Xstar is good too. One way to know how fast it can charge is checking the wall adapter for the output current, the higher it is, the faster it will charge. 1amp is best, below 500ma is slow.

Pila had mine for over 2 years... Fast and accurate..4.19 volts everytime...

I rotate 4 AW 18650 IMR batteries in and out of my Trustfire TR-001 and it takes about 3 hours each. I take them down to about 3.5v and pop them into the charger. There's less stress during charge that way and Basic to Advanced Battery Information from Battery University says they last longer if you don't vape them to cutoff.

Still, I'm procrastinating about a newer fancy charger that can do conditioning.

As a post-script to my above post, I took the charger back to the shop where I'd purchased it (as part of a Lavatube kit) and they gave me a different one. The replacement has the exact same defect. Putting in a battery that's at 3.4 to 3.5v after all full day's use results in only about 165ma charging current, which never increases. Charging still takes around 12 hours.

I'm sure that some TR-001s from different generations will probably work fine. But with two in a row exhibiting the same issue, there's obviously no QC happening at the factory. I suspect that there's probably a whole batch of these units made from the same production run which all exhibit this problem.

Looking forward to receiving my Intellicharge i4 sometime next week.
