I've had to ration my use of GV's vanilla cream doughnut - it has the same affect on my breathing that a vanilla flavour had on me back in 2014!

That's a bummer, being one of your big favorites.
Wonder why it took as long as it did to affect you?Maybe a slight change of ingredients in a later batch.

Nope, not joined MI5 yet - you mentioned it around a week before you went :)

So that's why I've got hit a third time
Hah! At least you now know how to explain your unsuitability! ;)

When I first stopped smoking, it took around 6 weeks before the allergy to PG finally became very pronounced, and caused breathing problems. I changed to VG, and then a few flavourings gradually produced the same effect ...lime, blackcurrant, some vanilla ones, some strawberry types, cinnamon ...etc., so if the Vanilla Cream Doughnut had a similar ingredient, that would gradually build up too - I had noticed myself getting more out of breath than usual while using it a lot. It hadn't bothered me much while using something else, but when I went back to it, I could hardly breathe and had to use Ventolin a few times.
I'll need to use it sparingly :)

I never had any type of breathing difficulty when I smoked! Never a hint of colitis either ...and my memory & concentration were sharp and focussed.
Does give pause for thought! Yet, every ounce of me resists wanting to smoke ever again!

I'd have to admit,much as i don't like to.....i don't feel as sharp as when i smoked.
In fact i'd say i now feel a little lethargic, things seem to take just a bit more effort than they used to.
But the long term health benefits must outweigh that.

I have really bad lethargy, lack of focus, unable to concentrate for long - I used to be exactly the opposite.
All the consultants knew about the link between colitis and giving up smoking ...there has to be some element of being prone to such things, but it exists nonetheless.

I found a few writers, musicians and artists who had their work suffer after giving up too. I tried to replace the nicotine by other means - NET's, powerful nootropics, and even snuff, but nothing worked well - nootropics did somewhat help for the half life of a dose.

Talking to my consultant a few months ago, he said it's not just the nicotine, but some other resulting action from smoking tobacco that seems to give some form of protection. As yet, they haven't isolated whatever it is. It's an immune system issue, so perhaps that is part of the answer.
I haven't gone into the neurological/psychological effects with any specialist though.

The bad thing is I'm not working as I did - could paint 3-4 in a month by working 12+ hours every day - good thing (if you can call it that) is that the market is flat at the moment - but there again, that offers no incentive to work harder!

I'll be seeing the consultant in a month or so, and intend to ask if the illness could have affected my metabolism and brain function in some way, or if it was down to stopping smoking. He may know that answer, he may not - but he could just try and find out. He's very interested in his work.

As you say, going back to smoking is not an appealing idea!

I've had an e-mail from Dripworx this afternoon, saying because of changes in the law they can not supply their mix kits with nicotine any more, and it has to be purchased seperately.
What's that all about?
I thought if the nic was 20mg/ml and supplied in 10ml bottles that it was alright.

Yes,but they have to pay to get them tested and then a yearly fee afterwards £950 per flavour per nice then £95 per year

I see it - £1 for a 10ml bottle 18mg 70/30 unflavoured ....what are you supposed to do with that?

I thought that even concentrates with no nicotine needed testing. It's only products with nicotine in this country?

From what I can gather if it contains Nic then it is subject to the TPD and therefore needs testing, if a tube of Nic is supplied with the zero Nic juice then only the Nic has to comply

So the actual recipe can have all manner of flavours/ingredients without nicotine, and no testing. Sounds odd.

I asked a US supplier if they'd be doing concentrates, and in the US, they have to get even those tested one by one.

FDA rules are far worse than the TPD and a hell of a lot more expensive
