I think ours are just too sensitive, they are commercial ones, not the sort of thing you can buy in a shop.
Ah - perhaps a little over the top of what's needed within ones home then.
A nice big fire engine pulled up outside our house one day and they offered to fit them free while they had nothing better to do. Nice scheme, and surprising seeing how relatively little of the council tax is for the fire and police services.

To stealth vape you need something not too powerful like the iStick 20w and some 50/50 or more PG juice, which will not give off so much vapour, then you can hold in the vapour until it dissipates.
I suspected the PG level would be a factor! ...hence me wondering how on earth I could do it.
I still have small 10 & 20w iStick batteries - even a few small Evod ones, but not producing vapour is another matter. Only way for me would be a cig size battery with a cartridge.

Definitely, I didn't want them installed at all, as I already had 2 that had been installed by the council under their service for disabled people, that were attached to a 24 hour call centre, with a speakerphone here, the only time they ever went off was if I was cooking something a bit smokey , but the install was part of the upgrade program and it appears I had no choice, the 2 in the hallway down & up are connected to the mains via the lighting system, the ones in the kitchen, front room & other bedroom are just slave ones and probably have a lithium battery in them similar to the 2 I used to have, and I have a removable control panel which I can use to test/silence them and tells me which alarm has gone off.

I think the ones that the FB have been installing just have a normal battery in them, so that they are easily user replaceable.

Too many for a 40' x 10' box on 2 floors, but the cling film is working so far, weird though, if I take one of my mods downstairs into the front room, I don't have a problem, it's just the one on the landing outside my room that seems to be the problem.

Overkill alarm system! ....I think they turned up the sensitivity on the one outside your room!

There should be a test button on the outside to press to see if it still works.
Yes, there's a row of little buttons but I'll need to stand on a chair to see what they are ...another day ;)

Why so many? I suppose you're never want for power! That's a LOT. I have about 30 eneloops but they go in everything including all my strobes for the camera kit. Which takes 16 on a shoot
Everything to do with them , when they were installing them I told them not to put one in my room, which after some cloud blowing they agreed not to do, but the one on the landing is right outside my room, and I don't see why I should have to keep my door closed all the time.

Is there not just a battery to remove? Or are they all hardwired?

I have a smoke alarm in the hall outside this room, but it never goes off - is that different to other alarms/sensors?

Don't know that I'd dare chance it on a plane, but how do you stealth vape unless out of sight?

One thing you can do is carry an empty coffee cup with a lid. Exhale into the cup. When it's steaming coffee nobody thinks twice.

I haven't tried on a plane yet. Technically I suppose you're not violating any rules if they don't specifically say no vaping but I'm sure they get pissy about it.

I use a LPG MOD with a 1.8 build and 12-18 mg juice in a movie theatre and blow it
Into my top. Last time I was in the far back
Corner where no light shone and I was just blowing clouds all movie :)

For airports and travel I use tiny ego-style batteries with a drip-tip and cone. No problems with pressure leakage and you can use them with discretion just about anywhere. I tend not to vape on planes these days as people have been thrown off of flights for doing so. Ymmv.

With regards to smoke alarms my understanding is that some detect anything that looks like smoke whereas other only detect smoke.

RE: Fire alarms, our last flat had two mains wired ones so I couldn't take the battery out. Ended up almost always having a plastic bag (found the thin plastic ones you can put loose veg in at the supermarket worked well) with a rubber band around the one in the living room and keeping the door to the hall shut, so we had at least one active. They were pretty sensitive though and doing things like frying bacon could also set them off.

On a different note, has anyone used vapable.com? Any idea what the service is like?

Yeah free next day is what made them sound good and they have a decent if not spectacular range of concentrates. Capella, TPA, t juice and flavour art.

Any discount codes you know? I've had a quick google but you guys are always in the know with these things...

I wouldn't chance it ...really don't like being singled out and embarrassed. I don't even have a valid passport anymore ...hate flying and it can play havoc with the BPPV type vertigo. We've both done plenty of travelling, so don't really miss going abroad.
I'm thinking more about places I may find myself one day that frown on any form of nicotine use.

With regards to smoke alarms my understanding is that some detect anything that looks like smoke whereas other only detect smoke.
It's likely the two we have will need replacing, so I'll have to see if I can find some that only respond to actual smoke.
