True, Bob. Mr Putin should now (after his people were killed on an aeroplane) be going after Isil rather than the groups who oppose Assad. Tonight, though, our sympathies must lie with the French.
Definitely, the siege at Bataclan seems to be over they are bringing out injured etc.

Good to hear that, bound to be slow - I had a stress echo done earlier in the evening, don't want to go through that again, they force your heart to beat faster using a drug, but it did show that the blood to the Left Circumflex Artery is not doing it's job and that the left side of the heart is not working properly, so may have to go back to have that reopened and stented, but that will be an easier job than the Right Coronary Artery that they did back in August, test will be forwarded to the consultant to analyse properly though.

Yes, I was told it would take a long time to recover, but it's too slow for my liking. I'm not used to being so debilitated. Suppose what I really should be hoping for is that if it does get into the remission stage, it stays there!

Shame the last one couldn't have been a 'fix' for it all after you waited so long. Has this been causing you problems, or did it show up in other tests?

Some tests are quite unpleasant, and if I do carry on improving, I'm not so sure I'll be keen to have one suggested for early next year if it's sole purpose is to 'have a look'! I suspect some damage was done when I was in hospital with the small version of the same test - still got site specific pain after that, and considering I was told it was merely uncomfortable and not painful, it was actually excruciatingly painful to be honest!

Glad your felling better Trish :)
Thanks Marcus- I'd begun to think the medication wasn't going to work. It seems some of the side effects of the steroid treatment are similar to symptoms of the actual condition, so can be quite confusing!

I do hope so Terry - as you know, it's been quietly building up since earlier this year, so it's been a long time since I felt properly well.

Perhaps so! Apart from not taking kindly to being ill, it doesn't help my work .....and earn no income!: had to cancel my exhibition, so that will make a difference.

Husband isn't 100% either - he got so worried when I was really ill, his BP went up and he gets really stressed at times. So now he has to have a 24 hour BP test, and has had a full blood series done (all OK except his cholesterol is slightly up - can deal with that via diet).
All of a sudden, we find ourselves with more doctor and hospital visits than we've had in decades! Very thankful we found a decent new GP practice just before all this happened!

Yes and No, occasionally I will get an angina type dull ache, with the same radiating dull ache, whereas before it was pain, and they knew that the LCX was getting narrower, and that the stent in the LAD was getting blocked up again, that's why they wanted to do the stress echo test to see if it was actually affecting the muscle in the heart, because ECG, BP and Pulse are all quite normal.

They always say things like that, the one I hate is "you'll feel a sharp scratch" as they stick the needle or as they did yesterday a catheter in "Ouch" problem is everyone's pain threshold is different.

Suppose you'll have to see what they say/do - hope it's resolved quickly and easily! They do seem to be a decent team looking after you as far as I can tell from what you say.

The first night when I was finally admitted (midnight!), I was almost delirious, but did pull the doctor up on her description of a 'sharp scratch' ...told her what she really meant was she was about to stab me in the arm and not to scream too loudly!
In truth, she took time to find a site in my lower arm that was unlikely to hit a nerve (a common problem for me) and I barely felt it, which was the exact opposite of the one put in 6 hours earlier by a nurse which caused pain and a 3" bruise as she'd planted it on top of a nerve!

However, with the sigmoidoscopy, I'd been promised sedation by the consultant only to have a booming voiced doctor doing the procedure tell me I couldn't have sedation and didn't need it! She said it just feels 'odd' - well it didn't after the first few minutes, it was extremely painful, and I've since found that when a patient has the toxic condition, this should only be attempted if absolutely necessary as severe damage and discomfort can occur, and no inflation should be applied either! I know how it happened I think: the consultant thought it was Diverticulitis despite me saying it had been behaving typically like UC, and once the doctor in the 'oscopy' department realised it was UC, she beat a hasty retreat! Had sciatica in my left hip/leg and strong pain in my side ever since.
If ever I'm in that position again, it'll be a case of no sedation, no procedure. End of.

As for pain thresholds - the NHS destroyed my faith, confidence and pain threshold years ago - I can put up with pain and discomfort, but not beyond a certain level.
Being in that very same hospital that I'd sought to avoid ever since that happened, did nothing to improve my wellbeing.

I am so wishing very hard that I get better and don't need any more hospital stays!

That happens to my Missus quite often, we have one nurse who does home visits to take bloods, he is very good, gets the vein without problems, the rest of the team are all women and she ends up with bruises. I messed up in my last reply, it wasn't a catheter but a Canular they put in yesterday, I got them to use the back of my hand, because when they put those in the inside of the elbow it always causes problems, but it still hurt when they put it in.

The guy who was doing the test, was a Greek and looked like the younger brother of Konstantinos Farsalinos (I told him to look him up as he had never heard of him), the Cardiologist researcher into ecigs who seems to stick up for us a lot, his assistant was Portuguese, and the nurse was Filippino, they were all very nice and chatty.
