It goes back to the early days of flying no electronic navigation aids - so following points of reference, but until the railways were built, it was only rivers, remember seeing something recently about in the USA there are huge Arrows made out of concrete across the land, they were used by Wells Fargo when they started using aeroplanes for transporting mail.
Oh ..they weren't to warn of red Indians then? - Seriously though, I hadn't known that!

I know that one of the main flight paths into Heathrow is down the Thames ..that path used to have a name, but now they're numerical. It's a nice path though ..over Windsor Castle and up the Thames :)

Will try and get mine back on the bike and take now she's getting into vaping. Last time she was on the bike was August 2013 when we had the crash and she landed 28 meters down the road.

Not going to hit "Like" for that as it was not a very nice thing to happen, hope she wasn't too badly injured.

Last time I was in a tent was when I was 16 at a Young Farmers get together in North Wales, quite a few bods from Bangor Uni as well, we were well and truly drunk the whole weekend, I like my creature comforts now, if it hasn't got at least 3 stars then I'm not interested.
Has to have a proper bed and flush toilet or I don't go!

I used to live down that way for two years.
In a little village called Hurley on the river Thames. The river ran across the bottom of the village, one way in one way out.Lovely.

depends on wind direction whether they go via Windsor or straight out through Hounslow then down the Thames over London Bridge Station and then it depends on where they are going as to whether they carry on down the Thames (for Europe & Asia etc) or the Brighton Main Line (for Spain, West Africa etc) but they don't use those as aids anymore as they are too high anyway

You know better than i do Bob,Mokuton, list is open

View attachment 406243

Tell me Bob,do mod makers usually only produce when a list is complete or do they go ahead anyway.

Oh, didn't realise it was the Mokuton, normally they have one or two ready, then once people start putting their names on the list they start making more, I think it depends on how big their business is, with these they will probably have quite a few either ready or partially made up.

I can think of a time when that may have been fun ....not anytime in the past 45 years though!

Ugh! reminds me of a summer camp school thing we were taken on ...horribly damp and cold! :(

This keeps calling to me from a distant land.........buy me......buy me
Okay ...so what's it called?

They certainly disturbed my bloody peace and quiet for sure !
Yes, quite! Was that the day you saw the stately home across the dales?

Some lovely areas down there. One of my gallery colleagues lives on the banks of the Thames ....got a bit wet a year ago! :)

I was just thinking of coming in to land at Heathrow - could see a lot at that altitude. Totally different sight coming out of London after dark in winter around 5-6pm ....a moving red jewel chain snaking for miles! the M25 :)

Amazing! Some good images there too :)

Totally agree, another good reason not to visit places like Africa
Oh absolutely not!
First time we went to Paris, the first restaurant we had lunch in had one of those hole in the floor loo's - it was in the cellar in a cubicle right next to the public telephone! When flushed, the floor got flushed too. It was probably cleaner than most public conveniences!
I didn't tell my husband though - just told him to 'go' before we went wandering around Paris. his face was a picture!

No That was dovestone reservoir trish, the fighter plane incident was a few miles up over the moor :) Apart from a few cars coming and going, and bikes of course, there is absolutely nothing up there except rolling hillsides. Ahhh, roll on summer !

Glad you said Bat there
Aw Terry! As if! Anything other than that didn't even cross my mind ...yours is working on overload tonight

OK if you're prone to scratching them.

I spotted those,Trish said they are "Tacky":(
Well, the iStick is an attractive little thing - those cases will totally spoil their looks ...if you looked like that without a coat on, you wouldn't cover up with a silicon one would you

Probably why they are so cheeep !
Tacky is just my take on them of course ..depends if your iStick is in danger of being dropped/damaged.

That's the same as the village I live in one way in one way out.Its called Cwm or us locals call it Cwmllifornia
How do you pronounce that? ...not the CA part :)
