Don't like the sound of this one little bit.
I don't like the sound of it either, and it's one of the reasons I got down to a mix of 6 and 3mg as quickly as I could. I also have a fair bit of zero liquid too. I'm thinking I should start seriously cutting back to all 3mg if I can. I'd hate to start smoking again!
One thing that struck me in that video is, considering what I said to Ian regarding the government and the tobacco companies being in cahoots and planning any which way they can to claw back the cash they're losing, he's actually threatening to do exactly what they'll want him and everyone like him to do: start buying cigarettes again!
I'd think that whatever legislation and bans they may (or may not) wish to impose, it'll take some time to actually do it.
I wonder if the B&M's will have a case for compensation regarding their livelihood being swiped from under their feet if it really did get that bad.
It's the first I've heard about the potential ban of refillable tanks and VV/VW mods, but I don't discount the possibility. There's a reason I have a dozen tanks sat in their boxes alongside half a dozen 20W iSticks. The liquid is another matter - I know I can freeze VG, not sure about nicotine or flavouring. Still, plenty of time to explore that if necessary.
Did you see the email I copied here that I got from Vaperev last night? Customs had been confiscating or returning liquids as not allowed! Something I hadn't heard of before, but when looking for retailers of two particular brands last night, I noticed that they all made a point of stating that they will not adjust value or content description to avoid customs.
It had been the first time I'd registered with a US company and got to the shipping method only to be told they would not ship to the UK!
Vaperev told me they're hoping to have a distributor in Paris by the end of the year.
As a result, I placed an order for a few 30ml bottles from Justbottles.fr today! Not the POET brand that I'd been wanting though!
Seeing these sellers of US brands within the EU makes me think they perhaps may know something definite about the shipping problems that may arise in the near future.
I've seen a number of businesses recently, particularly in France, and did wonder what the reasoning was - it couldn't be purely for customs duty reasons.
We've also seen more and more UK retailers selling US brands lately.
Nicoticket has begun getting B&M distributors world-wide as there is talk of online sales being curtailed, plus they've gone over to automated bottling in glass bottles with safety caps, and I believe they have said they will no longer label packages with lesser value or different content. I haven't placed an order with them since the new bottles etc. were introduced, so have no first hand experience.
No-one really knows exactly what will be imposed on us, but a lot of the more responsible brands seem to be trying to cover as many angles as they can.
It seems that the word of eminent scientists and medical professionals is not enough to deter governments from trying to hoodwink us into believing it's for our own good, when they really only want their taxes back and the giant tobacco companies appeased.
They did however believe them and embark on decades of bullying us when they found that tobacco smoking was bad for us! Hypocrites!
I'll be honest - I don't mind a bit of tax ..and I do mean a bit - as long as they don't start imposing ridiculous bans on certain equipment & liquid.
The tobacco companies should have jumped on the bandwagon and done the same as the best liquid and equipment suppliers have done - they'd still have their profits and have no need to whisper in governments ears (& pockets), and all we'd need worry about would be government taxes.
I do very much hope that none of what was said in that video comes to pass, but it is unsettling, and cannot be totally disregarded.
I don't think that thousands of protests would deter them from carrying out whatever plans they do have - after all, the protests didn't stop the smoking bans in any way.
