The first is Ian's favourite place and cheaper than MV and the latter doesn't appear to have any - couldn't get site to load on Chrome, but managed with Firefox
Yes, I remember the reference to them at times - just seeing the two of them together made me smile.
Seems the latter doesn't have much of anything!

You probably have mail from them Trish,15% off a whole load of juice:)
Their site is moving very slowly, but managed to get what I wanted: another bottle of Nicotine, some bottles of flavouring, and a fresh stock of Doughnut King ...plus of course some of the VT: Asgard, the Midgard Carrot cake only has 6mg left :)
Saved almost £20
That's me sorted for a while! CC ran off screaming ....

Bloody kitchen tap has developed a leak now under the sink :( I had a quick look and it seems one of the flexi pipes has split. Just messaged a mate of mine to come and sort it asap. Need a new tap as well as that has been on it`s last legs for a while now, pressure up and down.
Although i do a bit of plumbing myself, i need someone with a car to collect all the stuff, so may as well let him do it. For now it`s bucket time

Oh dear! At least it's a leak where you can see it.
Hope you get it fixed fast :)

Yes, just waiting for him to get back to me now Trish. Just wondering what it will be next, seems like i am having a lot of breakages recently. :nah:
We all get spells like that at times sadly ..can be very frustrating!
Our faulty new hob has taken since March to get anywhere - finally, we're told we're getting a new one delivered on Wednesday and to have the old one disconnected ready to collect!
No mention of the £80 difference in the price of the two hobs, nor of the cost of an electrician to disconnect the faulty one - not to mention how much it'll cost for a joiner/kitchen fitter to make the hole for it slightly larger before the new one gets wired! We'll just be glad to get it sorted at last. We'll be without a hob from Wednesday for 5-6 days before we can get the new one fitted. I should have bought one of those single ones from Amazon!

I don't like us tinkering with anything that is piped or wired into the house: water, gas, electricity, phone/adsl. All potential disasters if mucked about with

Phone/Network - no problem, I re-wired the whole of the upstairs from the main incoming socket downstairs, electrics if it is something easy like replacing a plug socket or light fitting - no problem, anything that involves new cabling then I call in the experts

:) Cheers Bob, i`m not too bad with plumbing, have most of the tools needed etc, it`s just that i will need stuff picking up, new tap hoses and so on, so i will just let him do it, if he gets back to me, otherwise i will have to do it myself after a trip to a DIY store. :)

Can be a tad annoying Trisha yes, especially when everything goes one after the other  Still, hopefully it will be a good few years before it all starts again, as is usually the case.
It can be very expensive, unless you have the right contacts yes, hope you don`t get stung by any unscrupulous Tradespeople.:)

Electricity is one thing i hate messing with, too many shocks in the past trying to do my own  Just don`t like working with something that cannot be seen.

My Dad would have a go at anything too - once even removed our full house hot air heating and replaced it with radiators and a boiler! Just had the Gas fitter come and do the final gas work.
Perhaps where our eldest picked up on how to do things initially. He has since fitted & installed a number of kitchens and bathrooms from scratch, including our kitchen, utility & main bathroom. One of his colleagues is a qualified electrician, so can check or complete any electrical work requiring regulations etc.

When it comes to phone/adsl, I got BT to replace the wiring and master socket via my ISP (cheaper than BT direct) - before the days of computers & broadband, we would do our own wiring and extensions etc.

fortunately, our eldest will come and enlarge the hole and fit the new one the weekend after it gets delivered (he'll be at work until then).
I absolutely hate having to get an unknown tradesman to do anything.
One thing's for sure, we'll never buy anything Baumatic, Candy, Hoover again ..read some bad c/s feedback online at places like Trustpilot etc., and even the repair chap seemed totally fed up with them last Monday.

That's exactly why we won't touch it! We used to cringe when my Dad did anything electrical for us ..totally fearless/confident with it.

You are supposed to isolate it first - although I should talk, got thrown across the living room once in our old place, poking about in a live socket.

I just had a quick word with an engineer, and he "lent" me a new master socket, re-wired it in place of the old one, then ran the extension & Cat 5 cable from my Router/Modem which controls the phone as well upstairs to my den/bedroom to a 16 port switch that controls everything it that room. Downstairs has Powerline plugs to a 5 port switch which when I get round to it will be replaced with a Cat 5 cable as well, as the plugs keep losing the signal once a month.

Ah yes, I remember it well!: seeing my Dad take a quick jab at something with a screwdriver to see if it was live!

When we moved in here, it had never been lived in and the phone line was a bit of a mystery ...BT chap came to put some phone sockets in the house as there were none, and he told us that the wire going up the garage wall and into the main bedroom was to the master socket, but that he'd wire the downstairs sockets without any problem.
Over the years, the wires got extended and moved depending on what was wanted and where.
When I ended up with Talk Talk from my Pipex account, I decided to make the move to a better one, and that was when I decided that the master socket should be in here, because having digital phones, we didn't need extensions dotted around the house.
Chap came to do the job and I asked if the wire could be external rather than drilling and lifting floors etc., and he said it was no problem - he then discovered that would be even easier, because the phone line actually came into the outside wall of the garage to a blank plate just under the boiler! Simple for him to bring the wire to the outside of the garage, and around to the rear and through the wall into here. So, we'd never actually had a master socket!
Instead of then ordering the FTTC as intended, I found my connection speed was so improved with that and the new router I'd got, I didn't need super fast for my purposes.
I have my computer wired, but everyone with smart phones and tablets has no trouble picking up the Wi-Fi as long as I've given them the password. Haven't tried using any of them upstairs though as far as I know. My TV does auto updates too, and my notebook works perfectly in the kitchen. So, for the time being, I'm happy.

I always do Bob, but on one occasion when i was fitting a security light outside i had run all the cables etc then needed to drill 2 holes in the wall for the fitting. Now bear in mind there was no such thing as cordless drills then, so back on went the leccy to drill the holes, forgot to turn the leccy back off grabbed the live to connect, and the rest is a laugh
