Thanks Terry - as you know only too well, even though we know it's coming, that 24 hours before you suspect or know it'll happen is a long drag, and so very hard at the end.
Until Saturday, it had been hard to stop her bounding around on that weakened leg, but once it affected her breathing she slowed rapidly. At least we found that fine line between quality of life and distress for her just as you did with your girl.
I talked to her about going back to the sea, and coffee & chips (a rare treat for her), and bid her goodnight as I always had done. Hopefully, safe with her head in my arms, she was content to drift off.
Nearly had me sobbing just reading that Trish :( Just brought back painful memories. We all know it was the right thing for Sophie though, even though it`s a very hard and painful thing to do :)

Ah!
We had a delivery man arrive just as I'd got up this morning and felt the loss of no greeting. I apologised to the chap, and he totally understood, remembering the loss of his own dog last year.
They're far bigger parts of our lives than many would give credit to.
It is hard - and at one time, something I'd have run from. It's hard to remain bright & normal at the time, but worth it.

'Coffee & chips' became a sort of catch line after we'd had that first day out and her pleasure at such treats.
Our son said today how coffee & chips would always belong to Sophie :)

Thanks for the kind thoughts, and yes, it was the right thing at the right time.

I hadn't thought of that - would it be that much difference in regards to UK shop prices?

It may level out in that it will cost UK shops more to import. However with £1.00 working out to be about $1.29 or less FT's prices will not seem as keen as they were.

May vs Leadsom. One of these will be the next PM. As I understand it although the final result is down to the membership the result won't be know until 9th September. There are voices muttering about this happening sooner - we will see.
I suppose it depends on how quick they can get the voting papers out to the members

Oh well, I'm glad I did most of my buying before all this happened. Near future likely mostly coils and the odd tank, and perhaps another Pico when I get enough rebate points :)

I think I prefer the presence and confidence of May, but would have liked her to have been an 'out' voter, and likely to get on with implementing Article 50 this year.

I see no good reason to delay the result or installation of the new PM until 9th September, but of course, Cameron wants to attend the G20 Sept 4/5th :(

Not really a good enough reason for the delay in the result, is it? Why not let the new PM get her feet wet at that? Good networking opportunity - and if the old PM wants to go he could go as well, perhaps. Would he only be there for the beer, though? He could carry her handbag.

I quite agree, but it was the reason the original 2nd September date was moved to 9th.
The summit is only for leaders of a country ...the generous of thought side of me thinks perhaps he wants to say goodbye to them all, or the cynic in me thinks perhaps he wants to do a little opportunistic networking!

Don't now if they can take guests.

I think far more important is to get the new PM in place as soon as possible for the good of all.

Been watching Press Preview on Sky News - the page of the Times shows a headline after an interview with Andrea Leadsom, stating words to the effect that she has the edge over Theresa May because she is a mother!
Link to front pages on the left of the home page:What's On The Front Of Saturday's Newspapers
Leadsom: Being A Mum Gives Me More Of A Stake

This has caused lots of negative comments, and Andrea Leadsom has been Tweeting that she didn't say anything of the kind.
I'm surprised that the Times would even print such a headline, whether it's what she said, or somewhat twisted.

Even for her to touch on the subject was totally wrong - too personal a matter.

Rachel Sylvester's piece. I have never found her work to be very impressive. It would appear that Mrs Leadsom was steered very firmly into this subject area by Ms Sylvester. Mrs Leadsom will have to be more circumspect and try to avoid being "tripped up" in this way in the future.
