My husband was feeling light headed and had a headache & joint aches tonight, so perhaps there's a bug doing the rounds!
It Is weird Trish, on Thursday i was out walking Maya ( Pounding the pavement ) as it was to slutchy on the fields where i normally take her. Anyway, we were walking down a busy main road and my head started swimming, my legs went weak and i honestly thought i was going to drop !
I stopped for a minute and took some deep breaths then took it slowly on the way home, but i felt really strange.

When i got home i had a glass of water, then we had to catch 2 buses to go visit our eldest son Grand daughter and Daughter in law. When we arrived at the 1st bus station i got a Mars bar and a bottle of Lucozade, got that down me and i slowly started feeling a little better, but still getting the dizzy spells periodically !

I have been ok for the last couple of day`s, so maybe a bit of a bug as you say, but if it happens again i think i`ll get checked out ! Right now i`m getting a bloody Migraine :( Maybe back later when i can see the bloody screen without the flashing eyes !!

I had that suddenly happen tonight around 7pm - was reading something online and suddenly started feeling light headed and queasy. I went and sat on a comfortable chair and had a headache start - same as my husband had yesterday - I dozed on and off until around 11, but am starting to feel tired enough to go to bed now. He still feels a bit 'off' today too.
Mine keeps coming back - it's as though I can't quite fight it off.
Hope you feel better tomorrow!

I'm sure it's got something to do with this stupid up & down weather that we keep having @terry w
It wouldn't surprise me either - having the temperature up and down in the way that it has, and with plenty of dampness thrown in at times, and it could cause bugs I suppose.

I've had a lot of crushing headaches since I started taking the tablets to keep me in recovery - why is it that a remedy often causes another problem :(

You only have to look at the paperwork that comes with medication - there are always side effects of some sort, god knows why ?????

Nothing comes without a price it seems!
I don't seem to tolerate pharmaceutical medication well. Until I was ill last year, I'd only had the usual antibiotics on occasion, and a 10 month course of tablets in 1999/2000 to correct a thyroid problem (no side effects either).
In hospital though, one of the strong IV antibiotics made me very sick, then the steroids gave me pretty awful side effects that took 3 months to diminish after a 9 week course, and then the tablets I'm on now are causing side effects including purple splotches on my arms and dreadful headaches.
The things that bothers me is the detailed info on this drug for ulcerative colitis at Medicines.org.uk.
Side effects can be many, and amongst those they class as rare, I have some!
One part though, does worry me:
4. Possible side-effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Organ specific side effects affecting the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, skin and subcutaneous tissue have been reported.

Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical advice immediately

If you develop unexplained bruising (without injury), bleeding under your skin, purple spots or patches under your skin, anaemia (feeling tired, weak and looking pale, especially on lips, nails and inside of eyelids), fever (high temperature), sore throat or unusual bleeding (e.g. nose bleeds).

I've mentioned this and shown it, to the consultant twice, and he doesn't seem too concerned - I think, from what he says, that it's not as important as getting this condition into remission. It seems that this is his drug of choice, and that he has much faith in it.
I've also had the tiredness, weakness, numb fingers and extremity's mentioned elsewhere in the side effects, and the temperature and sore throat when I've had the shivery fever flare up recently! - but he seems unperturbed for the reasons mentioned. My own GP had the same response.
Both of them do agree though that Biologics would not only help the immune system related psoriasis outbreak, but also the colitis - all part of the same group of auto-immune ailments!
That though, is down to the dermatologist, so I need to get in touch with him again. Not sure whether I want to risk another drug causing side effects ..plus, it's self administered injections :(

I'm fed up of this medication lark!

You're not the only one, I hardly ever even had a headache tablet until I was 50, when I had my TIA, since then can't sleep properly at night then feel tired and lethargic in the afternoon/early evening, due to all these cardiac related tablets.

It seems so unfair doesn't it!
I really don't feel like myself at all.

I know the weeks of care and losing Sophie set me back a bit, not to mention the loss of sleep, but I seem to be constantly battling against either recurrence or dealing with side effects.

Is it possible for you to pinpoint a particular drug? If so, it could be a lesser dose would still work well but cause fewer side effects. You could ask your specialist or GP.

I had to take blood pressure drugs for a month or two after a very stressful period we went through in 2004/5, and it was found that 1/4 of the prescribed tablet did the trick and stopped me losing my breath and falling asleep during the day. As soon as my BP stabilised to less than dangerous levels, I insisted on stopping them.

There are a few in my lot that cause drowsiness, I will speak to the Cardiac team next time I go up there and see if there is anything that I may not need/can cut down on

There's one thing that definitely causes sleepiness in the afternoon - carbohydrate in the morning (and especially at lunch!). You can test this for yourself. Let's say you wanted cheese, pickles and bread for lunch. Try it with three bread rolls. I guarantee that by three o'clock you will want to go to sleep. If, however, you have just the cheese and pickles you'll be fine and alert. It's one reason why people used to have starchy carbs for supper - they help you feel sleepy when you actually want to sleep!

@e-pipeman Normally first thing I eat in the day is a sandwich at about 15:00, occasionally have a bowl of Cheerios in morning, and the odd occasion it will be a full breakfast at the local cafe (BSE & beans with slice of toast)
I`m pretty much the same Bob and my appetite doesn`t really start kicking in till i have been awake for a couple of hours at least. Sometimes i will have a yoghurt or a bowl of cereal in the morning, but most times i won`t start scoffing till around lunch time, then there is no stopping me till i go to bed

We almost always have two slices of wholegrain bread as sandwiches at lunch time - today it was chicken, but yesterday it was a crusty roll with fresh tomato soup. I usually prefer some source of protein as sandwich filling, if only cheese, but whatever we have doesn't seem to make me sleepy ...does with my husband though.

Our lunch is my first meal of the day - I get up at 10, but before my husband retired, I was up by 8 and had rice crispies with sliced banana for breakfast around 9am.

I used to be up for an hour at least before eating anything, and now it's two hours - never bothers me though.
I tend to get tired just after 6pm in recent weeks - in fact, I was weary with a pain in my back earlier, and sat in a comfortable chair - and fell asleep pretty quickly. When I woke up at 10pm, I was very cold and shivery so used that microwave hot pad to get warm - then we both decided we were hungry after seeing an omelette on TV ....I hadn't made one for some years, but he made tea and buttered some bread, and one very nice fluffy cheese omelette was shared and we each had a slice of bread and butter with it. Unusual for us, but it was a very nice supper!

Happily, I'm getting tired again now, so feel able to go off for a decent sleep!

I`ve always been the same with my Appetite Trish, pretty none existent for an hour or 2 until i am fully awake and moving about :) And i religiously have a kip after the evening news, just to recharge the old batteries
Hope your back is a little better today :) My dizziness and weak muscles has all but disappeared now so i am guessing it was a bit of a head cold !

Until I stopped, my main needs were mugs of tea and a few ciggies! Unthawed my brain perfectly :)

I've never altered my eating habits though - still don't want anything to eat when I first get up.

I never used to sleep during the day at all - but I've just woken up ....I really shouldn't sit anywhere comfortable early in the evening

That strikes a chord  my late missus was given one of those rise & recline armchairs back in March and luckily they have not reclaimed it and it is really comfortable :)

Ha-ha! Why not take advantage when it's there!
I have a large soft cushion on the sofa, and if I relax back on it while sitting there, I tend to drop off :)
I'm starting to feel tired again already, but know I'll wake up too early if I go to bed now. Definitely not sleeping as I always used to.
