i get them from Elite Vaporworks. im not sure who the manufacturer is. theyre horizontal coil "bloog/volt/etc style" cartos.

the first few batches were fine but now im getting duds here and there in my recent batches.

i wonder if im doing something wrong because as far as i know cartos shouldnt be burning as long as i keep them wet, which i have.

at first i wasnt sure if they were burning, but last night i pulled one apart and sure enough a portion of the filler material as well as the wick were completely fried.

ive read that thread. thanks. its hard to tell what the problem is. ive used BWB juices with these cartos (elite vaporworks) and been fine, but every once in a while, they will burn. maybe the coil is not situated correctly and the filler material burns becasue of it. ? i have no idea.

It could be that the resistance on it is to low, ones that are below 2.6 (i think) will taste burnt. Bloog had that issue when these were first released, they upped the oms to address it, I imagine some still slip past. I would imagine it's the same with any horizontal coil. Do you have a way of testing it?

Hey kemosabe when you fill them are you using a syringe or just dripping in there. Alot of time the wicking material doesnt totally saturate the wicking leaving dry spot which ultimately creates the problem. If you experiment with a clearomizer so you can see the wicking while filling you can see what i mean.

i do not have a way of testing it, crbrown. i think you could be right.

i doubt its the juice. Don - i fill by dripping. the burnt carto with BWB juice in it that burnt had been full for a week. i actually had misplaced it after filling. so the wick must have been saturated by that point....or are you saying that by dripping i possibly created an un-saturate-able situation, resulting in a burn?

I had same problem as Kemasobe with Volt cartos, not on all cartos just 2 out of 10. I dripped 35 drops in a new carto and waited for a really long time but still I got some strange taste, not even sure if it was burnt taste but something similar.
I there a big difference between dripping and syringe methods?
Is it more advisable to fill carto first time with syringe and then just top up with dripping method?

Sometimes Kemosabe, the coil gets pushed off to the side. look through it with light behind it and see the coil at the bottom. If it appears centered,in the tube, that's not the problem. If its off to the side, it will always taste funny/off/burnt. No fix I've found. Sorry.

now if you are certain you have saturated the filler, initially to the point you got a drip or two out the bottom, I have one more thing you can try.

Try pushing the filler down a little with a regular sized straw. the straw allows you to push down on the filler evenly without disrupting the center tube. You can also try packing the filler down a little by tapping it on your palm, threads to palm, just like you were packing a pack of smokes. This will make sure the filler is down there properly and able to wick to the coil.

The horizontal coils are not wrapped in the filler like the old vertical style so you can actually pull up and push down the filler without disrupting the coil. But contact is still important.

I often adjust airflow issues by tapping the wicking up or down.

That's all the tricks I got. I'm currently suffering the taste from a bad one right now, Toss it and move on is all you can do sometimes.

It is more advisable to do that way. What is most important is supersaturating the wick on the first fill. it takes a little trial and error. You really want to make sure there are no air bubbles left in the filler on the first fill. Air bubbles caan also fool most into thinking it's filled all the way when it's not. It still fools me sometimes. Everyone, at least once should purchase a clear cartomizer, the kind with the filler in so they can see how the juice wicks in. I wish to could give credit to the person the said that (maybe Swedishfish...and maybe she heard it from somewhere.....) but it's great advice.
