A new issue with carto's

Hi all,

I have been vaping for 10 months now and have found juices I like and thought I had nailed down good cart's as well. But... recently I have received some Bloog and Ikenvape carto's that taste like the inside of an old sneaker. This just started and I don't have the same problem with other carto's. I am using the same batteries, auto V2's and Bloog's. These batteries work just dandy on other carto's. Has anyone else had these problems?

Pantry Weevil (sir or Ms.?), if these are the horizontal coil cartos from ikenvape (know the bloog are), then the issue could be an easy one to diagnose, the voltage. V2's run at 4.2 at full charge, then drop to 3.7 in around twenty minutes. At anything above 3.7 they burn the juice, which has an awful taste. Why bloog uses regulated batts.

Pantry Weevil (sir or Ms.?), if these are the dual coil cartos from ikenvape (know the bloog are), then the issue could be an easy one to diagnose, the voltage. V2's run at 4.2 at full charge, then drop to 3.7 in around twenty minutes. At anything above 3.7 they burn the juice, which has an awful taste. Why bloog uses regulated batts.

How would that "burn the juice"? LMAO............ At 4.2v with a bloog 2.5 ohm carto is only 7 watts! Most people with mods are are vaping at much higher wattage than that! Like 8 watts or better. People who are vaping with an Ego with boge LR 2.0 ohm cartos are vaping at 6.8 watts, The people with mods vaping at 3.7 with 1.7 ohm LR cartos are vaping at 8 watts. And what makes you think the Bloog is dual coil? Its a dual horizontal coil? I have never seen a dual coil that is not vertical. And if the bloog is "dual coil" as you say how come they dont give an ohm rating for each coil, like every other dual coil? You are saying their are TWO coils at the bottom of the bloog horizontal coil cartos? I have torn them apart before and there was only one coil. This is a video of a dual coil but its vertical.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it very much. Are there 808 - 510 adapters avaiable? I ask because I have quite a few 808 batts. Maybe I will just buy a 510 batt and some blanks.

yes there are 808 to 510 adapter from most venders. I know madvapes has them, but MANY others do as well. If you dont see 808 to 510 adapter listed on a venders site. They might be listing it as a 901 to 510 adapter. this is because a 901 and 808 are the same threads. This is why people buy 901 attys to put on their 808's so they can drip. I drip with a 901 atty on my 808 to try new flavors instead of loading a new juice into a carto and then hate the juice and having to clean or throw away the carto LOL. But if you are gonna buy a 808/901 to 510 adapter anyways then you can just buy a 510 or 306 atty if you want to drip. As far a cartos go for the 510, if you do use them dont go lower than 2.0ohm with the resistance. And even thats pushing it with a 220-380mAh battery IMO. And remember lower resistance cartos are gonna mean you are getting more watts(heats) which means short battery life in between each charge. The standard 808 cartos are rated at 2.5-2.8ohm it depends on the supplier.

For some weird reason, bloogs have a dirty dishrag kindof thing going. Bought 2 packs from nhaler, supposed to be same ones and they taste fine.... Exect for a fully charged generic batt. Carto has to be very full or it dries out the coil to fast...and tastes bad..

Liberty flights uk has the original kanger horisontal coil and they dont have the dishrag thing either...just awsome TH and vapor.

MIchelleDen - I glad to hear someone else had my experience. Perhaps we just have sophisticated palates.

Hairball - As for the Ikenvapes, I had a few out of 10 that were of the dirty dish rag variety. Not all 10 of them and I agree they are great carto's. I do like them very much. Maybe there was some sub-par filler floating around. It's well documented that the Chinese will ship "bad" products from time to time.

The coils in these different brands of cartos are probably all similar enough to use Watts as a general indicator, but watts don't neccessarily equate to surface temp of the coils. A larger mass/surface area will dissipate the same amount of energy at a lower temp.

If this is true then that might explain why people had alot of problems w/ the G4 clearo's. The OHM's on them varied from the low three's to the high four's and people would get the burning taste no matter how they tried with the HV/VV's.

Yes, and vice versa. Madvapes and litecig have them, as well as numerous others. I usually use Boge LR KR8 cartos on an Ego (510 thread) battery. Sometimes I just use 510 cartos. Having the adapter allows me to use any 510 battery/carto on any KR8 carto/battery. Covers a lot of options in the vaping world.

Even minor quality control issues with wire diameter will make a dramatic difference in surface temps. An example would be a LR vertical coil cartomizer I just disected. The nichrome is roughly 3.5cm long when stretched out and varies in diameter from .005"- .006". The difference in temp between a .005" diameter wire of that length and a .006" diameter wire of the same length @ 3.7v would be 1600f for the .005" and 1900f for the .006". Three hundred degrees difference in a thousanth of an inch diameter discrepancy.
My original post was somewhat incomplete and backwards from this example because of the lower resistance of the larger diameter wire in this example. If you increased the mass of the wire by adding length to the coil instead of diameter, the surface temp would be lower.
These temps are of course free air temps and they run much cooler than that in this application because of the thermal conductivity of the juice and to some extent evaporative cooling during vaporization.

I would love to see someone do a controlled experiment based on optimal vaporization temps of the different e-liquids. with that knowlege we could easily calculate the perfect setup.
