Yeal, welcome to the thread Mac. Nothing better than a good 'baccy mix in my book. :vapor:

Thx for the welcome. Ex (pipe, cigar, etc.) aficionado…it's in my genes. Any talk of real tobacco or its semblance is like a dog whistle. :D Good luck.

So what have you been vaping??

I'm vaping hs Cohiba (co) at 4% right now... On my second day with it, so it's not bad at all. Not full on cigar but portions of it are there.

I use a natural almond extract bought at the supermarket. I reduced the alcohol content by 80% by heating it to 140F and letting it evaporate out and it made a decent flavoring at 2 - 3%. It was the generic Shoprite brand (99 cents per 1oz bottle on sale reduced down to about 6ML's after heating). If your looking for a sweet almond this is not it. This is a pure almond nutty taste.
Can you give me a little more information, please? How do you heat it to temp? Microwave, ultrasonic cleaner, pour it out of the bottle and crock pot, slow burner on the stove, what? Keep it under heat until it reduces?

I'm just curious because I want to experiment with date palm. I had a friend's homemade Baklava the other day and he said he used Date Molasses, and the smoky slightly burnt taste I really thought would pair well with a tobacco for vaping. I can't find any Date Palm concentrates, but I have seen Date Palm extract available. I would like to try creating this flavor and your method sounds promising.

Hi J, funny you should ask. Must have radar. Prefer cigar blend vapes and favor Cubans but seldom have a chance to delve in the experience as so many do here enthusiastically. Most my DIY efforts been about the more popular brand names the average vaper might use. Halo Tribeca was one of the first I attempted 3 yrs back almost. Hopefully this year I may have more time for my own favorites, so I figured I'd start here. As it happily happens, opportunity has me fiddling with my own JCTC tribute…

Nude Nic
Caramel (Original)
Cuban Supreme
French Vanilla Creme
Kentucky Bourbon
Red Oak
RY4 Double (steeped RY4D, 5% Nude Nic Tobacco TA)…
Virginia
ACV

Flavor total: 15.18% (base steeped, low PG version)

Better vapor producer than maker's but not intended to be dead on. Process this eve of setting up a batch of mech's and variables, tanks and drips to test it. Once done I can play with this one for a while. Perhaps with some inputs from this thread. Have a few INA on the way. So lookin' forward.

Thx for the nod J. Good luck. :)

p.s. Have at it @Andromendous.

I use a candle warmer that has a small 20w halagon bulb in it. I supose you could use a hot plate, candle or fragrance oil warmer. The idea is to use something that warms but does not cook or boil the contents. Surface area of the bowl is very important. So a flat shallow bowl is perfect. You want the liquid spread out in as large of a surface area as possible.
I place a very shallow bowl like a coffee saucer on top of the warmer and pour in 30ml of extract heat it until it gets to 6 mls. I keep track of how much is evaporating by sucking it up into a 10ml syringe. When it fills a 10ml syringe I know it's 66% evaporated and getting close to done. It takes 40 - 45 minutes to evaporate to 10mls. When it gets to 10mls you must keep a very close watch on it because it does evaporate quickly and if you over evaporate it you can ruin it by turning it into a resin or a paste like substance. When it gets to 6 to 7 ml's (80% evaporation) it's ready. Use it as any flavor concentrate starting at 3 - 5%.

Inawera AM4A. This was sitting at the end of my line of "new-to try" Inaweras for a month. I kind of forgot about it, because it was sitting behind the Gold Ducat that I've been putting off trying based on its sickly sweet aroma.

Grabbed it last night and whipped it up at 4%. Ah...pure bliss. I can't pin down its spicy-fruit-ness (somebody help me out here) but it just hits me perfectly. Another Inawera win for the front line.

Now, on to that Gold Ducat...

Inawera AM4A.

This INW concentrate was the first tobacco I ever enjoyed as a standalone mix; very tasty, as is the Gold Ducat.

After running through a fair amount of ml stand alone, other ideas came to mind for additions to this tobacco; can't say I was disappointed.

It seems to be a love it/hate it flavor, with no two description of it matching. I love it as a change of pace vape in the evening with a hot cup of coffee. I also like it as a additive to Rustica.

Rustica Gold
Rustica (10% solution) 3%
Ina Gold Ducat 1%
FA Oak Wood .3%

Have you tried any of the tobacco absolutes yet? I have a couple of the Ina TA's that I enjoy and, of course Rustica in a class by its self imo. Talking about it reminded me of this thread that you might enjoy it if you haven't seen it already.
Tobacco Absolute - A Flavor All By Itself.
Also, here's Dannys' review of another TA. I haven't tried it yet but it's on my list. Review: A brand new offering of Mothers milk tobacco absolute.

Tobacco Pear: For each 10ml of base, add 12 drops INW Tobacco Pear, 6 drops INW Dark Tobacco & 6 drops INW DNB. This is just out of this world good!

I just mixed some of this Tobacco Pear recipe - it smells divine! Hope it doesn't need much steeping as I don't think it's going to last long :)

For those who may have smoked American Spirit in the day.....a question.

Is there a single flavor or combination of tobacco concentrates which even come close to mimicking the flavor of these cigarettes? I know there are NET versions of American Spirit; a bud of mine is looking for concentrates to mix his own juice.

Thanks in advance!

From an American Spirit smoker who has tried several tobacco flavors:

EC Blend Desert Leaf or Gold (Gold has a nutty aftertaste, Leaf has none but less robust flavor) mixed with their Coumarin Reborn (about 70% or more Desert, 30% Coumarin) is a good replica of American Spirit Turquoise. By itself Desert Gold will probably do the trick.

What is Rustica, and where do I buy it?

Gold Ducat...not for me, but in a strange way. I taste what I vape-identify with as honey. It's a flavor I've never grown to like (I feel similarly about real honey). Strange thing is, while I do not care for the taste of it at all, the vapor smells absolutely wonderful. Maybe my percentage was too high at 4%. I guess I'll have to find someone else to vape it while I hang out in the room. :)
Barring that, I'm going to try muting that honey note with vanilla, or maybe AP.

JD…Seedman's and NN, have been staples for me. Rustica and Virginia TA up next as time allows. Mostly shake'nbake on this side as my recipe pref's are flavoring rich. Stand-alone and blends. Solution caused me a problem early on the 1st year as I had a prob with alc blend and pg. Also I was makin' a lot of juice for interns and folks I worked with directly on the tensioned micro. Learned to scale for flavor/nic/pH, batch big or small and consistent early on. These days I'm refining my own pref's, less so what works generally. Here to listen to all you bacco pro's. You know what goes right and don't. Ratio's and compatibility. I'm listening and grateful.

Mix on! Good luck. :)

Has anyone in this thread tried Charlie's Chalk Dust Honey Badger? What's it like?

My daughter's serious boyfriend swears by Charlie's Chalk Dust, but their flavors seem to be on the sweet side for me.
I'm not into "Cherry Pie Vanilla Whipped Cream Mochachina" flavors.

Would I like it or hate it and give it away?

I just did a mix of the Gold Ducat at 4% myself and had the exact impession, definitley a strong honey in that one, can't decide if I like yet or not perhaps the honey will tone down a bit after a steep. I still think the reason why the dislike comes into play, My first and only order from Wizard had a couple broken vials in it and one was the INW honey. that stuff stunk up the house bad. I have had little success with that flavor at all. I think in order to use it I would have to do like a 10% dilution. but that smell alone just kills me:eek:

I'm not ready to shelve the Gold Ducat yet. The vapor simply smells too good. I've gotten through 6 mls of it and am convinced 4% is too high, but this isn't destined as a stand alone for me. The honey element is just too pungent, but I'm envisioning something like a Cream of Tobacco. Vanilla, fresh cream maybe, it definitely doesn't need to be any sweeter. I also think AP might be helpful in smoothing it out.

Good flavor to play with.
