FA tobaccos are pretty good actually. I've tried their Desert ship, dark vapure, shade, cam blend and maxx blend. I didn't care for the cam or maxx too much, the rest were really good. Deffinitely want to start at 1% with those, they're POTENT.

I'm not big into mixing flavors. But I've got a few tobacco types that are just too light in the tobacco for my taste (AM4A, SC Black & Mild, etc.). Can anyone recommend a good straight tobacco to add to these that will up the tobacco flavor without drowning out the nuances that make these unique? Do I need to go with an absolute for that?

TFA's Black Honey Tobacco mixes VERY well with Black and Mild.

I would suggest any of the inawera tobacco absolutes which are ready to use with no mixing down required.

Bull City Vapor - Search Results for "inawera tobacco absolute"

The first 3 in the list are good pipe and cigar absolutes the 5th one down is an absolute that gives an ashy taste more like an american classic dry cig (Marlb).

The rest are all fine tobacco flavorings. Also try the hangsen line of tobacco flavorings. There made with natural tobacco essence (Can also be found at site).

This is also a nice absolute but takes some mixing down with PGA to turn it into a usable concentrate. Nice rustica note which is slightly sweeter then a virginia TA.

My impressions. .......

SC Virginia Flue Cured: It's quite grassy and earthy with a faint hint of fresh ash. This is a straight-up naturally sweet mild pipe tobacco. Again, I'll finish the tank and see what's changed in a week.

Overall, I'm missing the dank funkiness that I was hoping for. I doubt either will deliver after a steep. ..........

I'm a bit surprised the VFC didn't do it for you. The grassy notes in it eat me alive at 3%. :vapor: It might be worthwhile to try some at high percents.

Another stout cigar flavor is SC Cigar. Very different profile though and it does have a hint of chocolate and something else as well.

My taste buds may have been a bit fried from some spicy tikka masala I had for dinner shortly before mixing.

I'm not sure if it was my tongue or the result of an overnight steep, but it tasted much more robust the next morning. It's still not as funky and savory as I'd hoped for, but a solid vape nonetheless.

I have SC Cigar sitting in a shopping cart at BCV along with some DNB. I'll hit the checkout button tomorrow and report back with my findings when it arrives.

I won't stop until I find something as funky as George Clinton.

On another note I'm working on my Dark for Pipe mix. Mixed two variations two days ago. One with chocolate, the other vanilla. Sampling one of them now. Mixed 16ml. Gonna vape about half and let the other half steep 2-3 weeks before trying again.

So this sample is 2% D4P, .5% Glamour Chocolate, .5% Tiramisu, 1% Jamaican Rum. By god it is utterly fantastic. Even if it doesn't steep well - I'll be revisiting this fresh a lot.

Can't explain it but I think I'm onto something. It just tastes so full. I get loads of tobacco and rum. The Jamaican Rum, which I've never tried solo or in a recipe prior to this, is perfect. It's rather sweet. Adds a nice sweetness to the vape without too much sweetness. I don't taste the chocolate or Tiramisu really but I can tell they are there, adding depth and body. I have no idea what steeping will do to this but I imagine it'll be good.

I mostly use TA's for that, so good advice from Danny above. Just keep in mind that the Ina TA's have some ash to them if that matters. Also keep in mind that anything is going to diminish the other flavors, possibly too much to suit you.

Another good bumper upper for me is SC Real Cig. It's mostly just a good marl type flavor with a bit too much ash for me standalone. Great as a mixer for me though, because it is pretty stout.

Another flavor to consider is TFA Dk Tobacco. I don't care for it standalone but added at around 1% it does help bring the tobacco forward, with out even a hint of what ever it is that I don't like at full strength. Effect is slight though so only works if the tobacco is pretty much there to start with. Adds a faint hint of nut also if that matters. Well at least the price is right so might be worth a try.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. :vapor:

I'm back into my SC French Pipe with some added vanilla. I rebuilt my Le Zephyr clone with mesh several days back and this is really a good vape. Pretty happy camper at the moment. :vapor:

SC French Pipe 2%
TFA Vanilla Swirl, Vanillin, Vanilla Bean, 1% each
FA Oak Wood 2 drops

Le Zephyr clone, ss 3mm coil, .9 ohm, mesh wick, powered with a mech. Um, um, good!

I found this recipe from a guy called HeadInClouds who is a genius with recipes. He is not much of a tobacco guy but this combination makes a great addition to many of my tobaccos. Also very delicious all by itself.

Tiramisu 1%
Vienna Cream 1.5%
Catalan Cream 1.5%

If you want to reduce the sweetness, you can cut down both creams to 1% and add 1% Fresh Cream. All Flavors are Flavor Art.
