Ive never tried any FA tobaccos. I need to. Fa is my favorite for nontobacco flavors followed by INW
I happen to think INW buys many of their flavors from FA. Some of them are identical.

I'm not big into mixing flavors. But I've got a few tobacco types that are just too light in the tobacco for my taste (AM4A, SC Black & Mild, etc.). Can anyone recommend a good straight tobacco to add to these that will up the tobacco flavor without drowning out the nuances that make these unique? Do I need to go with an absolute for that?

Yeah, but that one isn't going to pump up the tobacco. Might try it anyway....TFA's Black Honey Tobacco mixes VERY well with Black and Mild.
My impressions. .......
SC Virginia Flue Cured: It's quite grassy and earthy with a faint hint of fresh ash. This is a straight-up naturally sweet mild pipe tobacco. Again, I'll finish the tank and see what's changed in a week.
Overall, I'm missing the dank funkiness that I was hoping for. I doubt either will deliver after a steep. ..........
I'm a bit surprised the VFC didn't do it for you. The grassy notes in it eat me alive at 3%.It might be worthwhile to try some at high percents.
Another stout cigar flavor is SC Cigar. Very different profile though and it does have a hint of chocolate and something else as well.
I won't stop until I find something as funky as George Clinton.
I mostly use TA's for that, so good advice from Danny above. Just keep in mind that the Ina TA's have some ash to them if that matters. Also keep in mind that anything is going to diminish the other flavors, possibly too much to suit you.I'm not big into mixing flavors.
