I'm not after strong tobacco tastes. I got Cohiba, INW Turkish(hoped it was a good clone to HS desert ship, but I was wrong) and some SC Real Cig if I want something that kicks a bit. I have them all mixed as standalones but they still don't suit my fancy enough to vape them all the time. That's why IMO the Hangsens make great bases especially for my wife's cotton candy and after sitting month or more it doesn't turn into sweet syrupy like FA 7leaves or INW Virginia does to the same cotton candy blend. After vaping HS Desert Ship, Highway and No5 blended with RTS TA or INW Garuda TA for the last couple years with no issues with being thirsty all the time I just can't do sweet anything at all no more. Won a FB contest and received a few 30ml of juices and OMG they literally oozed out of the jugs(being max VG didn't help), after first few vapes I was at the kitchen sink drinking thinking nope not going thru this again.
I put all sorts of ciggy toxins into my body for many years so how some tobacco concentrates are derived isn't going to concern me enough to change or find another concentrate cause extraction A method isn't as good as extraction B, getting into the science of that isn't in my cards.

How are we classing the Nude Nicotine tobaccos? Are they considered NETs and maybe not appropriate for this thread?

Regardless, I have to say that I'm loving NN Island Blend and BRY4. The former has got to be the best "island" I've had.

I'm not so hot on their Menthol Tobacco, but if you like Honey Tobacco, theirs is also a winner. I've learned that I don't, and can't learn to like, any honey tobacco, I ordered NN's strictly to sample. It's very strong...I initially tried it at 3.5% and it knocked me flat. Also permanently scarred the bottle it was in with its "essence". Unfortunately, it was the one NN decided to double me up on to make up for a late order. I'd have much preferred 30 mls of Island, but I've got 30 mls of fresh Honey Tobacco sitting here if anyone wants to trade.

Acetyl Pyrazine (AP) really kicks up the tobacco feel with small percentages to the mix. I went a little overboard and did several bottles with AP at .4% and 5%. They seemed great in the beginning, but began to wear on me after a while. Next batch I"m starting out at .1% and going from there.

Tobacco Absolute (TA) has also kicked up my tobaccos with smoke feel and a smoky flavor. TA (10%) is also something that is better started at one drop in the bottle and going from there. I've only added TA to a couple of bottles that were weak in tobacco flavor.

I use one of those real fine metal droppers that come with a hangsen 10ml concentrate. When I want to walk on the wild side a bit I use 1or 2 of those fine drops per 10 ml in a already steeped tobac, shake and vape. Usually 20mls is good before it gets sickly to me. AP a nice change but a very limited change for me. I don't know how to explain but it ummm...roughens up the TA, maybe better wording is changes the taste of my HS/TA blend for the worse so I just use a standalone HS tobac if I'm going to use AP. Back in my earlier days of mixing I overused(not overscaled) AP and I began to dislike it so I stopped using it before I hated the taste but now just rarely and a very small amount.

I was the same way. In fact, I diluted a couple of my AP mixes with unflavored and added back a little flavoring to get it right. I still have some heavier AP mixes that I add 1/4 to 1/2 unflavored to a tank to push back the AP. I added about 10 drops from the AP bottle to 50ml when I first started using AP. It was way over the top at 1%.

It's interesting how differently AP effects different people. It always seems to be a take it or leave it type of relationship among vapors. I've used it for years at about 1% in my main ADV then for a short period I had to put it away for a while because all of a sudden I couldn't tolerate the taste. Then a short time later I was back to vaping it on a regular basis.

I really love the smell of AP, but can't stand the taste of it when I vape it. This suggests to me that I may be overdoing it in my mixes when I've added it. I seem to have an overdeveloped sense of taste, reading others' posts, as I don't find the Hangsen tobaccos weak in flavour at all. I am a MTL vaper though and I use rayon, which likely helps with tasting the flavours too.

I'm finding that less is more when it comes to AP or TA. The right amount is great, but that varies among the population. Finding your personal sweet spot can be a trial and error activity. I guess it's like sweet, hot, or sour. Some like a different mix.

I've watched people with tears from hot pepper rolling down their cheeks talk about how great the food was. My brother in laws carry a bottle of hot sauce in their vehicles just to make sure they have "the good stuff" when they stop to eat in a restaurant.

AP does have a bad habit of taking over a mix. Today it tastes great then let it sit a week, becomes more predominate, a month later it turns into frito's. That's the reason I just add AP to 20mls shake and vape cause it don't take long to vape the 20ml. I've made the mistake of adding to larger mixes, let steep then almost having to forcing down the last part of the mix not to waste it.
My SC Cohiba overpowers also. My first go was 5% and it almost blew my head off, after cutting then re-cutting I ended up at 1.25% and its still mighty strong. After cutting 20mls a few times over I have a enough juice for a while. December 2015 I made it and still have plenty. I blend 80% HS tobac with 20% of the 1.25% Cohiba mix and still packs a punch but the cigar sharpness is nice if its in the background not slapping you in the face.

Exactly why I always make 200ml of unflavored nic base when I do a DIY batch.

I like SC Cohiba a lot too, I use it at .5% mixed with .5% INW Garuda TA and .5% INW DNB. I vape it during the evenings a few times a week. I have a lot of different mixes as I enjoy variety, but that SC Cohiba mix is a staple for me.

That is a very nice combination of flavors and seems to be used at very good percentages. SC Cohiba is a staple in my arsenal as well. That combination gives a very nice cigar base, the garduda gives it that tobacco authenticity and the DNB gives it that nice touch of ash.... Very nice.

A new combo for me and it's a good one.
Rustica 4% (10% solution)
TFA Dk Tobacco 2%
FA Oak Wood .3% (two bottle drops added to 15ml batch)
Steep at least 1 day uncapped for the Ethyl Alcohol to evaporate from Dk Tob.

Just a great pipe tobacco flavor. I could vape this all day, any day. :vapor:

I think I've mentioned before how much I dislike TFA Dk Tobacco stand a lone and how much I like it mixed with other tobaccos. Somehow I had missed adding it to Rustica until I was reading a recipe in the 'new boba' thread that called for Rustica and TFA Turkish as the tobacco ingredients. I have Turkish as well but I wanted to try the DK first for some reason. I'll try the Turkish as well sometime soon.

I just checked my notes and found that I got the original recipe from you dannyv45, so many thanks for that! :) I tried mixing Garuda on its own (also on your advice I like to check out individual flavour profiles) and I didn't like it at all, but in this mix it's really very good. I never dispose of flavourings as something may work well in another mix. I reckon I must have hundreds of flavours sitting in the dark in my stash boxes. But I still keep finding and buying new ones for a 'must try' mix :) I'd like to contribute more here, but I have a bad habit of counting drops instead of using %'s due to me having a low tolerance of strong flavours.

I will try harder though, as I've got so much out of this thread, I'd like to contribute something.

Great to here. I'm glad what I post actually helped someone:) If drops are working for you then that's all that matters.

Another +1 for SC Cohiba. My taste buds aren't nearly as keen as yours though. I wish they were.

This is truly a GREAT Thread!...
I'm pretty much 99% NETs (DIY) but get tempted to try out some of the concentrates that get mentioned here!.....
Just wondered if anyone has had success in mixing purchased concentrates with NETs.....? Red Virg. NET + Hangsen 'Red USA' works!....Any others?
I haven't tried any nets yet so maybe I shouldn't have responded, but my guess is that it just depends on individual taste buds. I do know that synthetic flavors can be used with natural flavors, such as a few drops of FA Black Fire to add smokiness and so on.

They weren't so good 5 years ago, after 40+ years of smoking, but each year I notice a huge difference in my senses, not just taste, but smell of course too :) When I first stopped smoking in Feb 2012, that year I was mixing with Flavourart tobaccos at 10-15%! That would make me gag now! Most of my friends have a preference for vaping fruity flavours, but I still only vape tobacco flavours :) I don't mind a fruity note, as long as the main taste is tobacco and I do like the pipe and cigar flavours quite a bit. I've recently discovered a liking for VZ Old Captain, which I enjoy freshly mixed. That was a recommendation on here too, I love this thread :)

I mix flavorings with nets all the time. It's really a matter of personal taste. I myself like hangsen highway, No.5 or SC cohiba with nets. Basically if you got a favorite tobacco flavoring you'll really enjoy it with net added. Even adding nothing more then a little AP works well to enhance the natural essence of NETs.

You can even go to another extreme with NETS by adding cinnamon, fig, plum, raisin or any other fruit or spice flavor found in pipe tobacco to give it a nice exotic effect.
