It is weird that this statement came out the time the government added a 1.15 tax on packs of analogs

The only question is the "excluding tobacco" phrase in the following list. Because it is a tobacco extract and not tobacco itself... I think... means supplement?
Furthermore, it must also conform to the following criteria:
intended for ingestion in pill, capsule, tablet, powder or liquid form not represented for use as a conventional food or as the sole item of a meal or diet labeled as a "dietary supplement"
This is the part that worries me - INGESTION - We don't ingest, we don't take the liquid form into our stomach - we inhale.
We've got a new technology - one that doesn't fall into any of the "normal" catagories - except tobacco use. And tobacco use is -ONLY- allowed in this country because the lobbists dump tons of $$ in Washington to keep it legal.
I think the FDA just wants to - like most of Washington - control everything everyone does in the country 'till we're all whipped dogs.
Macpanda,Im all for our Juice being regulated but I refuse to give up my ecig now. Ive smoked since I was 12 and just quit over 2 weeks ago and I feel amazing and my blood pressure is back to normal and my doctors are so happy. Its all thanks to the vaping. So screw the FDA Im gonna write up some letters. I aint giving up with out a fight.
I wish there were more of us so we could all stand in front of the main FDA offices and take out our pens and minis and vape away. Could you imagine that? Just fill the streets with people vaping in protest!
It knows nothing, and we know nothing, about the real safety of what we're doing. Until that is known, continuing down the unknown path is untenable. I expect harsher measures loom.
There's a lot of ignorance in this thread, and a lot of venting.
Hrm. I don't really see the FDA acting here. They like to put out statements to protect the public from the unknown, but I don't think there is much they can legally do.
Nicotine is not a controlled substance. E-Juice is no more a drug than herbal supplements, and as much as the FDA hates herbal supplements (a la ephedrine) there was nothing they could do to stop it until the Congress acted.
Ohhh...this could be prohibition all over again. If it gets banned I'm gonna get rich shipping this sh.t down south!

Thanks for the post, Sun. Reality is setting in. Anyone who has read extensively on this forum for any length of time knew this was coming.
This is at least the third alarm, however. Before long, it won't be possible to hit the "snooze" button and continue blissful ignorance. Act on your own behalf now.
There's a lot of ignorance in this thread, and a lot of venting. Nowhere is there a sound, logical sequence of arguments to continue the marketing of an unregulated drug of untested purity and content from China. Step back from your e-cig, look dispassionately about our practice and devices -- and you'll see that this isn't some conspiracy to take away freedom, reward lobbyists, assure revenue, etc. It's an agency doing it job. Enforcing protective measures is what the FDA must do.

But common sense says inhaling radiator fluid vapor can't really be all that good for you can it? This also needs to be addressed. Same with vegetable glycerin. Just cause it came from a plant does not make it ok.
I see laws and underground vaping in the near future until more is known and less people care about it's destruction.

You know what I dont see in your post? Suggestions on how to do it, just pointing out that it isnt being done. It's all well and good to tell everyone they are wrong, but how about you do something productive rather than just complaining.
Just a thought.![]()
The biggest threat to vaping is misinformation. To many suppliers / resellers making false claims, to much misleading information. Case in point: inhaling "radiator fluid." Ethylene Glycol is radiator fluid and is a far cry from Propylene glycol, which has been used for many years as a food additive and to suspend medications.
I'm not trying to start trouble or create problems, but this sort of misinformation is not helpful at all.
