I am afraid that the ball to ban e-cigs is in motion and our only salvation will be indisputable proof that e-cigs are safe.Overcoming the initial ban will be very difficult to do if not impossible,to much opposition i am sure will voiced by tobbacco etc.and lobbyists from different money concerns. If it is ever to be again,i am sure there will a very strict control per dose on the nicotine,we will never be allowed to buy the e-liquids as we do now.I really feel bad for the suppliers here,we do have some really fantastic ones, would hate like hell to lose them.

On top of contacting government officials we need to starting reaching out to the media. I didn't even know e cigs existed until I was approach by a MLM ( Multi level marketing ) company that is selling them. Thankfully I didn't get involved with them...but, if we get the media involved just think of all of the current smokers that will get turned on to them!

I'm already emailing TV and radio in my area to get the awareness raised.

Obama needs to get one too. He got to keep his blackberry! Where's my phone...

might i suggest, anyone drafting these letters possibly post some copies or examples for those that have never written such a letter?

sure we don't want them all to be carbon copies, but i myself am curious what topics you included and how.

A site with tips on how to write an official, format to use and general tips for not sounding like a total tool:
http://home.earthlink.net/~dawwn/lobbying.htm

Excerpt from said site:
The letter is the most popular choice of communication with a legislative or congressional office. If you decide to write a letter, this list of helpful suggestions will improve the effectiveness of the letter.

  1. [*] Your purpose for writing should be stated in the first sentence of the letter. If the letter pertains to a specific piece of legislation, identify it accordingly, e.g., House bill: H.R. _____, Senate Bill: S. _____. (for bill numbers try Thomas The Library of Congress to search with words or phrases or details of a bill number you may know).
[*] Be courteous, to the point, and include key information, using examples to support your position. State reasons for your position. Tell how the issue affects you and your community.
[*] Address only one issue in each letter; and, if possible, keep the letter to one page.
[*] Make sure your letter is timely. Write when legislation is pending in committee.

there should be a sticky with all the contacting legislation info somewhere just so everyone could find it easier.

A good way to get the postive word out to the Non-Smoking public is through Dustin's Documentary. If we all pitch in, we could all be kick ... ambassadors for these devices we love and don't want to lose. Once he gets enough submissions and puts it together, he is going to blanket the WWW with it. Get out your webcams and tell the world why these devices are so important. Every little bit counts!

Holy cow, I have often thought of that monk torching himself while reading posts on here. He never flinched or made a sound. This is true, I have seen the video many times.

A picture to explain what us smokers/vapers are going through would be the one of the S. Korean soldier with his gun to a civilians temple. It is a frame from a film. The man is brutally shot in the middle of the street.

Who is Dustin?

Dustin (aka RatInDaHat). He is a mod on this forum, and he does a lot of Video Reviews for gear & liquid. He has his own sub-forum in the General Discussion area. You should check out the list of doc questions, and make a video. Submit it to Rat's FTP site and bingo, you are in the movies!
