I'm seeing that some tune our statements out because they assume we are big tobacco. In every interview I hear "taking a play from big tobacco by aiming flavors at kids" ... and that's all they hear. We need to disarm that comment. Going into a lengthy explaination that can't be proven to a non-vapor won't do it.
Going into a discussion that shows a non-vaper what percentage of vendors are owned by BT can't be done? I'm not sure I understand this. Can do the same thing with vapers, and at least some vapers think BT is at the helm of the industry, driving the bus.
Can't convince all non-vapers that nicotine isn't all that addictive, that batteries don't explode but rarely, that you need more than 2 flavors to enjoy vaping, that really most of what FDA is going for is best addressed from the pro-vaping side. This is true with many issues where public has heard 3 second sound bite, and feel they are 'informed' about the issue in way that matters. BT is here to stay, and can be far better ally than all the other "B" entities we have available. If theoretically BT was removed, then BV would emerge and as is already the case in vape culture, they don't get universal respect. Take the top BV companies out, then here in vape culture there'd still be haters of whatever is left at the top, and they'd still be scapegoated by ANTZ as examples of why vaping must be done away with.
The reason I don't want BT in this comes from the Surgeon's General's Report; "Although the prevalence of smoking has declined significantly over the past half-century, the risks for smoking-related disease and mortality have not. In fact, today's cigarette smokers - both men and women - have a much higher risk for lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) than smokers in 1964, despite smoking fewer cigarettes."
Cigarettes have become more harmful in the hands of BT. I don't want that to happen to eliquids and it will. I can go back and quote Dr. F on that one.
But Little V is already being nailed, even within vape culture, as producing harmful vape products, and is partially why FDA is getting involved. BT made a gross error by trying to make their product more addictive. And are paying heavy for that. But to say that everything they do from now on is inherently bad is hard to follow in a reasonable way. Just cause SG, ANTZ and public hates on smoking, doesn't make their arguments against smoking rock solid. In many cases, I find lots to question with so called 'facts' about smoking. Just as I do with so called 'facts' about the harms of vaping.
