FDA posts new website “tobacco Regulatory Science in Action” (and a new blog) to congratulate itself and its funding recipients (aka “tobacco regulatory scientists”), confuse the public about comparable risks of different tobacco (and vapor) products, and lobby for its proposed “deeming regulation” (that would ban >99.9% of nicotine e-cigs)

FDA posts purportedly “Scientific Publications by FDA Staff” on tobacco and vapor products, most of which are fear mongering propaganda to confuse the public about product risks, and most of which is intended to lobby for FDA’s “deeming regulation” Scientific Publications by FDA Staff

FDA posts new website to search for FDA funded propaganda (aka Tobacco Regulatory Research Projects) that misrepresents the health risks of different tobacco and vapor products and/or the demographics of different tobacco and vapor product consumers (to confuse and lobby for FDA’s proposed “deeming regulation” and other regulatory goals) CTP - Supported Tobacco Regulatory Research Projects

$270 million propaganda machine, just think of the knowledge that could have been gained about vaporizers with just 10% of that money.

Just think what WE could do with $270 million dollars.
We'd have won already by now.

Maybe if BP stayed out of the fight, you have to remember they spend close to 100 times that much worldwide in a year promoting their drugs.
Hmmmm....

So if we had $270 million to spend, and the truth behind us...
And they had 100x that much, with lies and propaganda and everything else at their disposal...

At least that would be a much more interesting and equitable battle.

Big Pharma and their battle against us, in black and white...

Thank you for sharing that and making my blood pressure rise lol. Wow. Evil.

With the exception of one FDA employee and three tobacco industry representatives, every member of the newly created FDA Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee has received direct funding from RWJF.

This screams conflict of interest. What can be done? I've been politically active for most of my adult life, but it's always been about educating people on the issues, and campaigning for politicians who will do the right thing. THIS fight is so different -- I feel like we're on our own.

Getting the money out of politics would be a great start. Let me know if you have any success with that and I'll think up step 2.

My link was quite old
Thanks for that, and the links. I feel a bit better.

But I would be stupid to think there aren't still conflicts of interest, they've just gotten better at hiding it - under the table money, backroom deals, etc. Nothing else would explain the lying and cheating they're doing to demonize and cripple vaping.

I actually don't think that e-cigs are in for the long run. At some point someone will come with something like a Quickmist in an Albuterol can/dispenser. No batteries, no heat, no smoke, and you can haz inhale.

And call it pneumatic flavor dispenser to shuffle the antz cards.
that and any other device existing now or in the future
is covered. no time to explain now.

Tobacco Regulatory Science in Action: In the Researchers' Own Words

I checked out Dr. Caryn Lerman's video and page linked to on FDA's bragging video page. She's with TCORS, an FDA partner. Her project is investigating and combatting tobacco related misinformation in media, etc. TCORS spreads all the same ANTZ lies as the other ANTZ organizations do. This is incredibly HYPOCRITICAL, WASTEFUL, DISHONEST and CORRUPT.

Dr. Lerman smiles with pride when mentioning TCORS at the beginning of her video, then goes on to talk about the misinformation problem, of course never mentioning the massive coordinated misinformation campaign TCORS is engaged in. Yes there's a lot of dangerous misinformation out there, and TCORS is a big part of that problem.

I don't know if she's one of the useful idiot ANTZ, or if she gets a lot of pay out of the loot that's bullied out of us. Either way, she and a lot of people like her need to quit, go home, and contemplate the enormous damage they have done.

Project Information - NIH RePORTER - NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools Expenditures and Results
Abstract Text:
DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant): Public communication about tobacco products has been transformed by the digital marketing revolution and the rapid diffusion of emerging social media. As a result, tobacco product information and misinformation is readily accessible through a variety of sources: from mass media sources (e.g., newspapers, TV), to social media (e.g. Twitter) and user commentary on media, to the final communication vehicle, the cigarette package itself. Such misinformation can mislead the public to underestimate the dangers or overestimate the benefits of various tobacco products, and threatens to undermine FDA's regulatory efforts.

Hmmm...no concern for OVERESTIMATING the dangers or UNDERESTIMATING the benfits? Sounds purely biased, to me. Stop wasting taxpayer funds and precious public health resources on your evil money hoarding scheme, TCORS!
