I just finished building my first USB Passthrough - still a few design issues I want to work out, but wanted to share here in case anyone has been wanting one. :)

I really like how it vapes - quite nice! :D
Has 510 connection, standard USB connection, and color change LED when vaping.
I really like 5V vaping, now I can go as long as I want without worrying about batteries!
:)

I really want a 5v passthrough!!! Just let me know where, when, how, and you can guess why!

edit: I normally use cartos, do you think it will work with the 1.25 duals? I would think that would give a TH to cough at.

Would depend on your power source - I would imagine you would want a minimum of a 1A power source, probably 2A would be a good bet. I personally wouldnt use a computer to power that kind of draw. :)

Will do on the PT - :) Hopefully within a few days will have a better idea on parts costs.

I guess I better start looking for the 2.5 ohm duals.

As long as it has a standard USB port on it, then yes. Wall wart is just a term for that big brick that goes into the plug on the wall - like a wart. ;)
Here is a good example: 2A USB The nice thing about using something like this is that it wont really deliver more than its capable of - and if it does it didnt cost you a new motherboard on your computer. I am running right now on a 1A one of these and it seems just right to me - but different folks like different vape styles :)

Its all about power dissipation through the atty - I=V/R so 5v/3ohm, or 1.66A at full load capability of the atty. So a 2A source, running on a 3ohm atty at 5v would only pull 1.66A. Consequently that would put the full load watts of the atty at 6.7Watts of power dissipated. By running the same thing at 1A, it drops it down to 5Watts. Since the atty directly dissipates all of the wattage into heat, this translates into a cooler vape - which I kind of like at times. :)

So to put the 3.0ohm in relation to say a 1.25ohm one as hangdude was asking about - that same system would draw 4Amps! 4Amps is quite a bit of power - enough to cook off some pc based built in usb systems. 20watts dissipated in the form of heat is also roughly 4 X the heat dissipation - and resultant clouds of vapor would be pretty huge. Most ecigs cant deliver the full amperage of those, so they are are getting subsequently less than that - but also why they say many times that you need more amperage than 1A to vape, so they can cover their butts essentially and not have to replace a toasted 1A system because someone tried to vape at a 4A draw.
Hope that makes sense. :)

Will post some pictures, I ordered the metal ball switches, but they are TINY! Doh! I might have some switches that will work for this critter here already, if not might be a few days for me to get a switch ordered and here.

Hi B94Cast ,
I saw this thread. I think what you are doing is great. I saw that you may be able to do a VMU type of Mod. If you have looked in to this I would be very interested in this also. You are one in a million doing things like this. If it can not be done then keep doing what you are doing. The help you are giving I know the people of this forum really appreciate. God Bless.

Yes I could do this type of mod - have the parts in my cart, just need to place the order to do one! :) I will be putting in an order today/tomorrow as there are some other parts I need to fix some stuff for folks. So it should be soon after I receive the parts that I will post here about the first vmu styled one!
Thanks!
:)

Tiny is fine for the switch...it's not like it's a big mod LOL. If it'll work, use it, it won't work, you know...do your thing sir! :)
