A neighbor came over and begged me for e-liquid, he was out and the B&M stores here are closed on Sundays. I told him I'd mix him up something for $5 (30 ml) and he handed me $10. He asked for another bottle and took my $10 and gave me a $20. I gave him an extra bottle of something I made a few weeks ago I know is yummy but crap, that is way too much money, still.

He asked me how much I wanted ($5 for 30 ml, for trouble and I don't trust him), and he was expecting more like $15 for 20 ml, dude, this crap pisses me off. I am pretty resentful to "premium" companies who sell liquids at that price, but livid at a local store which offered me a 15 ml bottle MIXED RIGHT THEN for $12 bucks...they let me taste it and, of course, unsteeped vanilla custard was all I tasted. I could offer to sell claptoned wire and such to this store I bet, but I would feel like crap for it because, again, huge rip off. I admire them at least for not stocking mech mods (which is what I was looking for when I visited them lmao), for safety concerns. But man...the prices...
Hey, it's ok any amount you deem fit for your services. You don't have the overhead business have. I advise all to mix cutting the middle man.
I decided early on I won't get involved in mixing for profit. I might give away small amounts to friends and coworkers to encourage DIY. I mix for a brother who chooses to be helpless but he only pays his share of the expenses. My hunch is informal mixing for profit is a slippery slope.
If I could dictate commercial pre-mix regulations there would be a license involved. There is an eliquid standards group. If they came up with safety standards for everything down to mixing at retail shops I'm sure they would come up with something workable and effective that wouldn't put anybody who is serious out of business.

I don't get into the politics of what should be charged for a mixers efforts. It's up to the the mixer to charge what they think is fair. I've given so much away for free and to those that want to pay me for making it for them on a regular basis I say no but I would be happy to show them how to make it. My approach has saved many a friendship and started many a vapor on the road to DIY success. As the old saying goes give a man some food and you feed him for a day, show him how to farm and you feed him for life.

Just be thankful they paid you and even upped the offer voluntarily when you upped the quantity. There are lot's of stories on ECF from people who have "vape suckers" in their lives - always begging for free liquids and never returning the favor, let alone slipping them $omething for it.
Some of us prefer paying higher prices, that way we know it's "premium", or better, just like us.
