Unless I'm shopping for an extended period of time (my weekly walmart 2 hr trips), I generally take a puff or two before going into a store and waiting until I come out to hit it again. I could get through a shopping trip when I smoked, certainly I can do it vaping lol.
On my longer trips, I generally don't end up using my PV regardless. The only time I have is when i was in the checkout line for a REALLY long time and there was a toddler in front of me in the line who screamed non stop the entire time. I think my PV saved the kids life.

My mom keeps saying someone is going to stop me one of these times, but I vape pretty openly wherever I go. I don't blow the vapor in peoples faces, but I don't hide it much either.
When out and about in public, I vape where one is allowed to smoke. Which means on the way in, on the way out. The only place I've openly vaped is in a tavern (and that is rare since I don't frequent them often) I won't do it in eating establishments, especially family ones. Its a bit of a new generation, lots of people like to keep that away from their kids, not just because of the health reasons so why go out of my way to pick a fight and ruin everyone's night.
I've look at vaping as the healthy alternative to smoking but I don't look to push the envelope. The occassional stealth vape is one thing but anything else no.
I will admit I do vape at work but I keep that in the back room and pretty much out of sight and I did it only after getting permission.

I was a 2+ pad smoker but that didn't mean I wouldn't refrain from smoking for a couple hours or less depending on where I was even in the years we could smoke pretty much everywhere. The fact that I "could" did not always translate to me as the same as the fact that I "should". Yes, out Chistmas shopping on Black Friday for 18 hours it was nice to vape a bit in the mall concoarse or have a vape or two in a couple stores but normally no, I don't vape because I've run into the grocery store for 30 minutes. I will wait until I leave the store. I recently went on vacation and yes I did vape a bit in the airport but no, I didn't sit there and chain vape to call attention to what I was doing even if I wasn't hiding it for the few minutes I did vape. It is my belief that no, we shouldn't hide it, but on the other hand, no we shouldnt flaunt it either.
If it bothers someone that bad they will say something and if they do maybe you can teach them something and who knows maybe convert an analog smoker in the process. I waited too long to switch cuz I didn't take it serious maybe if I seen more of them I would have.
The more clandestine you look, the more people will notice. People tend to notice less, and say less if they do notice, if you look like you're supposed to be doing something. Do it proudly, but not obnoxiously, and you'll be fine 
I only visibly vape where smoking is allowed. No reason to piss people off about ecigs. Those same people could go whining to their congressman etc.
I do stealth vape out of sight where smoking is not allowed - like in bathroom stalls, in my inlaws' pool enclosure, etc. I vaped in the bathroom of a synagogue. Just hold the vapor in longer then blow it into your own chest or clothing.

At the store, I just wait until no one else is in the aisle and take a puff or two.
At school, I go into the bathroom. (Though my English profressor is cool with me vaping in class, but I don't do it often.)
Some places I do feel a little too awkward to even try, plus if I really don't need a puff I won't puff. Unless I am in the comfort of my home.
Add me to the don't openly vape where you cannot smoke group. Openly vaping in stores and other places like this wins vaping few, if any friends.
I compeletly disagree with this position. If we want vaping to be accepted we need to respectfully educate others about our much healther this alternative is. I vape in resturants, stores and taverns but do so respectfully, never blowing plumbs of vapor towards others. I always inform the waiter or manager about my PV, what it is and what it isn't. If the owner would rather I not vape in their establishment, I respect their wishes. I generally do not continue to support their place of business with my presence, however.
The bottom line is: Perception IS reality. If you only vape with the smokers and in those sections, then the message you are sending is that vaping is JUST as dangerous as smoking and thus should be banned. If your own actions paint vaping as something that should be shunned, then it should be, plain and simple.

I stealth vape a LOT. BLowing the vapour into my chest, or under my arm usually works - I also try to hit a few between aisles where nobody is, or they're at the other end of the aisle.
I have lost count of all the places I've SVed, but a few I remember are: Macys, Kroger's, Brookshires, Albertsons, Sears, Dillards, Ridgmar & Hulen Malls, 7-11, Shell Gas Stations and other gas stations too, Pilot Travel Center (I purchased a NJOY NPRO Starter Kit right afterwards!), and lots of others. I'm making a 'game' out of it (isn't life a game, anyway?). Maybe somebody ought to start a Thread "Places I've SVed" - I'd do it but I'm very tired and fixing to turn in...
