Hi guys,

Just wanted to know if any of you have fell off the wagon and gone back to real ciggies when times have got tuff.
Going through a really emotionally tough time right now and have returned to smoking......feel like i've took the easy way out.
This happened to any of you before? I'm sure I will get through it and get back off the cigarettes, just doesn't feel like it right now.

yea just this week. i manage to vape when i'm not busy, but notice i've been grabbing my regular cigs more and more, almost naturally.

caught myself today, i forced myself to just vape all night at work, but when i got in my car there was a pack of smokes on the seat. i just picked it up and smoked one without even thinking about it. about the third drag i realized i had my 510 in my pocket ready to go, but ah well.

just got to abstain purposefully for at least a week to regain that "eww cigs taste like crap feeling" and you're golden. i'm unfortunately back to not being able to taste things so well because i've had so many regular cigs this week, so the bad taste of a cig isn't enough to make me want to vape instead.

in the end, i think we all appreciate the benefits of just vaping, so we'll naturally tend to return to it if we have it available to us. it's just nicer to smell and taste and to feel better.

it's crazy, i guess after 15 years of smoking, it's just so easy to grab a pack of smokes when things get tough. There are so many habits to break, you just don't realise. I've vaped for 2 years pretty much, and even now I guess I still think of myself as a smoker. I seem to crumble when life takes a serious turn for the worse.
Thanks guys

When you are a long-time smoker, thinking of a tobacco cigarette in stressful situations is a habit in itself. You can't beat yourself up over that. But if you keep trying to vape instead of smoking when the urge hits you will succeed. I smoked 2 and 1/2 packs of Marlboro's for over 40 years. And I'm sure that all of us vapors have felt that urge in stressful times. The main thing is you wanting to come back to vaping! That alone will help you succeed.

Yup. My cat was very ill, and I had no way of taking her to vet immediately. The fear, the guilt, all mixed together, and I ran to cigarettes. (She's fine now, if you're curious.)

But I discovered that, you know what, it didn't help that much. I didn't need to do this to myself because I was upset. I didn't have to punish my body by smoking when times got hard.

It was hard for a couple days, to keep vaping. Harder after I allowed myself to relapse. But you'll come through it, and your e-cig will be ready when you're ready.

It's ok to slip. Just make sure you get back up.

The last time I quit analogs, I set a trap for myself. I was proud of myself for quitting smoking instead of vaping. I had it in my mind that if I smoked even a little, it was a failure.

So I ended up slipping once and having an analog and this screwed up my head and after one slip, I gave up and stopping vaping. This was a big mistake and it took six months to get back on the right track.

This go round, I don't consider it a screw up if I smoke an analog. I've taken the pressure off myself, vaped as much as possible and then found after a while that I didn't really want the analogs any longer. I didn't force it and things have turned out much better this time.

I vaped constantly and when I wanted an analog, I let myself have one without guilt. I still occasionally break down and have an analog, often with hilarious results, but as long as you keep trying to move forward with vaping more and smoking less, how can you lose?

Best advice I've heard is:

Keep quitting until you do

Hang in there and don't beat yourself up

3 days ago I bought a pack of smokes. First time in over 4 months!! I've gone through half the pack and I'm kicking myself right now. I know it was a combination of high stress and my guard on low. I don't think it was helping that my 510 attys weren't working up to par. Have a new batch on the way and I'm getting right back on the vaping wagon asap.

yes, it definitely helps to have lots of supplies in good working order. Get a couple nice PV's so you can switch it up.

When I first switched to vaping, I did it constantly...it really WAS a pacifier! Now that I'm a year and a half in, I vape a little more like I smoked....in sessions.

Keep at it. Vape as much as you need to. Soon you'll replace the bad habit with a better habit :)

I agree totally with the previous posters. It's normal to slip, just get back up when you can.

In addition, here is a super cute finger-monkey to brighten your day:
