I will read every single reply so your voice means a lot to me. Moving along...

Just ordered 120ml of PG 48 mg nicotine, 120ml of PG and 120ml of VG. (Already had some VG but got more)
10x blunt syringes 5 ml (Looking locally for some more precise 1 ml ones).
40 bottles 30ml, 10ml, and 5ml (10, 10, 20)
Some assorted flavors. (can list them if requested)
Other vaping related equipment (more tanks, batteries etc...)

SAFETY I WILL BE TAKING:

- I will be wearing a safety apron, gloves, and goggles (or face shield would be better.)

- I will be opening a window and door in kitchen (is that enough ventilation, I could setup a fan at door and window to remove and add air to room if needed)

- I have a sink and shower within 5 feet sink, and 20 feet the shower. (I do not plan on spilling it and will be taking extreme caution when handling the nicotine liquid at 48 mg + the other liquids)

- I will make sure I am 100% alert at time of doing it and with someone else in vicinity wont be alone.

- I will only have the nicotine bottle opened when taking some out and closed ASAP.

- I will be using an E-Juice calculator and personal knowledge on math etc.

- Looking at getting a nicotine testing kit (How important do you guys think it is, I will get it anyways just want to know possible best place to get one from... seen Ebay has some and Warning on this page says to get one from there)

What I want to know is how much ventilation would people recommend I have, how do people go about cleaning their equipment afterwards ex. syringes (I've read things on it but want more info). After cleaning should I wipe down area completely with a stronger cleaner ex. alcohol after using soap and water? I may add more questions to this initial post later if I think of any.

Side Notes:

- 6 mg is what I will want to dilute it to or less 3-6 mg (nicotine).

- Liquids and all of my E-liquids and vaporizers are going to soon be stored in say a lock box or something (The nicotine will be put into the box straight away when it arrives.) (More room with be obtained for other things later as I buy more "safety containers".)

- I want to be the safest I can be while doing this and have already spent 20+ hours reading and even more watching videos. Will continue to read things and watch videos. Again I want to be as safe as possible.

- I have 2 cats which will have to sadly be locked up while doing this (They need to be safe :)) (Also reasons on wanting storage containers so they can't get near anything which is safely stored in a closed cupboard anyways.)

Other Questions Will Be Added Here (other then "reply's" to other people):

-
Ok thanks for the reply, one other question I've read some on nicotine testing but is it needed on every mixture If I knew I put only say 1ml in to make it 6mg ? I think testing the 48 mg liquid at start may be only thing needed correct me if I am wrong... This is the main area I have not fully looked into yet and going to be researching more today.

Ok, what would you define speed steeping testing as? like mix then vape right after or? Cause from the little more I read you need to use like 1ml of your liquid to be able to test it so 1/5th of a 5ml test. or 1/3 of a 3ml test with a basic test kit. I didnt get as much reading done today yet since i passed out for like 5 hours earlier was really tired.

Thanks for your input.

I think you qualify for the safety award.

I vaped 48mg/ml for the first year I vaped, so I don't see it as much of a hazard, but it's always better to be safe.

Most homes have adequate ventilation for 100mg/ml, so you're above the scale with a window open for 48. Getting it rinsed off in a reasonable time is the important part. It takes a bit of time before the skin starts absorbing, but once started it just keeps absorbing. Not always easy to feel a PG spill, so alertness is a key.

I'd be more worried about pets and small children, so I think your idea of putting the cats in another room is perfect.

Don't over think what your doing and have fun with it. 48mg NIC is not as hazardous as you think. Keep from kids and small animals and use common sense. Treat the chemicals as any other household liquids (Bleach, paint thinner, ammonia etc...)

Here's some recommended reading.

Read my blogs before getting started

E-Cigarette Forum - dannyv45 - Blogs

then read hoosier's blogs.

E-Cigarette Forum - Hoosier - Blogs

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

Your cats look almost exactly like my two :). I'm only using 36mg base, so while I do take many of the precautions you mentioned, I feel pretty much ok to leave off the face mask. It really bugs me when one or both cats want to come investigate and hop up on the table where I'm working. It's very distracting when I have to chase them off. I built a "Catio" for them and I think I will start locking them out there while I'm mixing. I'm so new to this that I usually only make a single 20 ml bottle, so it's done pretty quick. But I think if I could concentrate (keeps my lil friends away) I might get more creative. Thanks for the safety reminder you gave everyone who reads this post. Good job!

Yes I've read all the stickies and hoosier's blogs already but not yours, gonna do that now.

Thanks for the input.

I have a test kit. Honestly, I've only used it a couple times on batches I wasn't certain on and speed steeping testing. I started mixing with 48 also and didn't take nearly the precautions I do with 100mg.

Sent from my stupid iPhone because I don't have an Android.

Glad my thread gave you an idea and a safety reminder about your cats, I'm sure you would be devistated if anything happened to them and likewise for me with mine.

Side note: The 2 cats in picture the silver/greyish one sadly passed away a few years ago, His name was Rocket, his breed was Korat (very good cats) not to sure what else he had in him but the Korat really showed (came from a friends barn), quick Google search will show pictures that look exactly like him with the silver shining fur.

As for the other one in the picture, I rescued his mother during the winter. I built a shelter, fed, and sat outside with her for hours since someone abandoned her when they moved. Neighbor sadly took her away to a friends farm since she was pregnant again (He let the kittens and mother say inside his house since I had a dog at the time and did not want to care for more even though I would have taken her into my home if I needed to)... I was like 14 at the time and I came home at lunch to find out what happened ... was extremely p'd off. Since he did not tell me anything before doing it. His name is Stryker (A.K.A. Whiskers the 2nd his mothers name was Whiskers, I gave it to her) He is around 7-8 years old now (I really would have to calculate it :()

The newest addition (gonna post picture here shortly) Is Cortana (Almost 1 year old) (named after the A.I. from halo games but she is actually really clumsy). She is also very mischievous knocking things off counters etc... she will stare at you and knock something off and move to the next thing to knock off. Apart from being "evil" she is an awesome cat glad I got her (She came from a farm where I pick berries during the summer at, she was very malnourished when she randomly showed up and the one mother cat there took her in) :)

IMG_2839.jpgIMG_6722.jpgIMG_6723.jpg
Her as a kitten......................Stryker and her sleeping.........Both of them waking up.

I really need to build a Catio as well... Stryker loves the outdoors but I keep them both inside apart from him sneaking through my legs at times to run into the backyard.

Again thanks for the input and it sounds like an awesome plan to "lock" them into the catio while you mix it would be the safest thing for you and the cats.

Thank you everyone for the tips and input,

Speed steeping. I put the GLASS bottles in the crock pot at 150 for 4 hours. I tested nic at 170 and there was no change/drop in nic level. Some people use an ultrasonic cleaner for the same purpose. It takes a lot of time of "time" steeping (letting it sita long time). And yes, you do have to use 1ml to test, but for that purpose, I think I made a 10ml batch.

That test was more for determining if the nicotine levels changed during heating?

I have been looking into the Ultrasonic Cleaners now as well... that will have to wait till I get paid next though after the few other things I need if I want to get a good one. It seems that it would help a lot in steeping or ageing the liquids quickly. Also it would ensure the nicotine gets dispersed evenly throughout the liquid imo... and obviously everything mixed well together.

Time for me to get a couple more hours of sleep before morning due to sleeping all day when I got home :p.

Quick Side Note: I have read all your blogs now as well dannyv45, very helpful information.
