I just yesterday got the Davide tank (Protank II-ish clone) and it is just lovely. Really enjoy being able to use my own drip tips. Friend got the Protank II, both are lovely.

Except that the Protank 2 is the clone. The Davide was copied by Kanger, and not the other way around. I use both and do love the Davide full and mini. I have not yet tried the PT2 and can't wait for someone to compare the Davide to the PT2. Anybody????

the review section has some pretty negative views on the Davide mini. not sure i understand their complaints. i really want to get some. you seem to like them. are their any problems with them in your opinion?

any taste difference between the reg and the mini? i have 1 reg and 5 protanks, but i want to go smaller to give longer life to my itaste vv v3s.

No complaints here about the mini Davide, well built, good tolerances, fit and finish are very nice, same with its big brother. As I said above, a friend got the Protank the same day - we did a side by side comparison; both are very nice tanks.

Hey all. My original intention was more intended about me not feeling the need to run around everywhere (trying to convince myself this is normal) looking for the better vape. I am too much a newbie to say this tank is better or worse than any other brand.

no one said better or worse! just the whole chicken/egg thingy.

do you actually have the original protank? i like them, but hate the tips. better worse is subjective. but, is it really better? is it true it is just a bit smaller? i find the protank mutes flavor "a little", is the protank 2 the same? i like my Davide better, but it could be all in my head...(not crazy about having to use a needle tip to fill it, and it leaked the 1st time i tried an evod head in it, but i do prefer it.)

i think it is normal trying to find a better vape, waaaaaay normal! :vapor:

Bill, where did you get that info from? I forget where but I read somewhere several months ago from a "supposed" designer of the PT-2 that a PT-2 prototype was leaked out & the "clone" was rushed into production while Kanger was finishing the design.

It has been several months now and I either read it here or on a YouTube video. The reason that the Davide coming first has some credibility to me is that not only was it in production first, but that Kanger was making changes to their design right into June, 2013, after the Davide was out. Of course, all of this is internet, so it has to be true, right? I suppose either is possible, and if you've heard something different, then I will be less vocal on this point, unless we get some convincing evidence to the contrary.

I actually picked up a Davide a few weeks ago. I didn't like it and shelved it almost full of juice. It seemed wayy too airy/flavorless for my tastes. Gave it an all-day use just yesterday & it has improved dramatically. I'm guessing that the wicks weren't saturated enough the first go around. It's awesome now. Big, full flavored draws.

I have not used the PT2 yet and am very interested to hear from folks that have seen both tanks up close and personal. The same things that everyone likes about the PT2 is what I liked about the Davide....the drip tip, the removable/replaceable glass tank piece, slightly tighter draw (but there isn't that much difference). Like many of you, I really would like to see some heads up reviews. I have not had any leaking yet on the Davide, which is unusual for me. Generally, my clearomizers prefer to leak, particularly on my good clothes. Good flavor, think the mini is even better in this regard, plenty of vapor from both Davide's. The drip tip on the old PT wasn't bad, but sometimes I got a metallic taste, now cured on both the PT2 and the Davide. I think the positive/negative thing is just a subjective preference issue, perhaps a brand loyalty issue, I'm not sure. I did break two PT1's, more like mini explosions when they hit my kitchen tile, and the Davide hasn't broken yet, but I've only dropped it once. My wife dropped hers once, as well, and no explosion (yet). I'm not sure how you could like the Protank and not like the Davide. Same coils, very similar designs and appearance. Don't know why there's negative reviews.

I don't have the original protank. I was using the ViVi Nova. Thanks to the members on this forum I have learned that it wouldn't really be comparing apples to apples between the two.

THAT was my assumption, although it was based on comparing the protank to the evod. so, if the creek don't rise and the Good Lord's willing, i'll be ordering a few mini-Davides next week.

I'm not sure how you could like the Protank and not like the Davide

i prefer the Davide, but it may be the looks and my own drip tip. (did have a leak when i tried an evod head in it, so i switched it out)

Don't know why there's negative reviews

there were 2 yesterday. not saying i was concurring with them.

my ONLY problem with the minis is the connection. i like being able to swap about the davide and protanks without changing the beauty(?!) ring. small issue though, just worried about stripping those outer threads.

The only functional difference that I notice when comparing the PT2 to the Davide is in the filling area.

When you remove the base cap to fill the PT2 the stem supports are offest up into the tank and it is easy to fill. On the Davide the stem is supported at the same level as the filling holes. You need to be careful when filling Davide, or use a needle tip in order to avoid having juice flow right down the center tube.

Other than that they are both very well made. Really well made actually. I think the difference is really just aesthetics.
