The Noalox is a conductive anti-oxidant. The metal REOs are all-mechanical, so the current runs through the mod itself. The firing pin is pushed down on to the positive nipple of the battery to complete the circuit and fire the atomizer/cartomizer. The tip of the firing pin is a very small point. About once a month, I wash out my REO and give the firing pin tip and the connector threads a good swab with a QTip dipped in alcohol. After cleaning, it's a good idea to dab a small amount of Noalox on the firing pin tip.

LOL, to wash out the REO, take off your atomizer or carto, unscrew the bottle and set it aside, take out the battery, then run the whole thing under hot water. I also like to run water into the connector and let it run out the feed tube. Wipe dry. Some people let it sit overnight to dry throughly before they use it, but I don't.

The connector threads are where the atomizer/cartomizer screws into the REO.
